    BMW History Book

I enjoy learning about automotive history and I'd like to know more about BMW's history. Any recommendations on good BMW books?

I want to get "The BMW Book" but ~$80 is pretty expensive, so that is on my wishlist right now.

"The Complete Book of BMW: Every Model In the World Since 1950" got some questionable reviews making me decide against it unless someone else wants to chime in; especially at ~$50.

    Thanks

The negative reviews I saw said that it was 1. 75% stat tables and 2. full of wrong values in those tables.

It does look great from the preview though, and there are supposed to be a plethora of great pictures. Hopefully someone on here has seen it/owns it and can chime in.

BMW themselves come out with some pretty nice books.

Check out the 2 volume history of bmw's engines.
"BMW Dimensions: The History of Engines"

        Also a neat book.....
"Touring-Car Racing and Sports Cars" by Stefan Knittel

Any of the "BMW Profiles series" are also worth reading.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll make sure to check out all three, but for now I'm just going to hit up the library, all my spare money is going into a 2002 fund.

I bought The Complete Book of BMW when it came out years ago. I read through it cover to cover when I got it and I did enjoy it.

It does have a lot of stat tables (which are interesting to browse through) and lots of good photos. I don't know how accurate the stats are because I've never actually tried to verify them. Also the stats are not North American meaning horsepower is based on European models and torque is in Nm.

This thread made me want to run out and grab some more BMW books, so I checked prices on the BMW Profiles series. Have you seen the prices on Amazon? $900 used?!?!?
