    Insurance appraisal

    Hi all,

I was hoping that some of you knowledgeable members can give me some advice on a appraisal.

Keep in mind I haven't been in an accident or anything with this car, this appraisal is so that my insurance policy will cover the appraised value of the vehicle, not some crummy blue book value.

I hope to point to some examples, if possible, of similar cars to demonstrate the higher value I expect to put into the policy.

    Car Stats:

    1990 325i touring
120,000 km on the body, no rust, fresh paint
    AC Schnitzer wheels
    Recaro enjoys
mtech II wheel, ZHP knob, and a few other goodies (i know wont increase value, but just to give you an idea of what the car has)
1995 s50 and 5 speed with 147,000 miles on it
    borla cat back exhaust
some kind of sport suspension (was told ACS, but I have not confirmed this)
    reiger infinity front lip
infinity speakers all around, including infinity bassworks sub in back
alpine head unit with ipod connection
    bavauto strut brace

Summary: insured value of a '90 touring with s50 and tranny swap?

I had it appraised a few years ago when purchased (then it was m20 engine with auto transmission) and the appraiser said he hadn't seen a cleaner e30 since 1990 haha. he appraised it then (stock) at 15K (given the fact that tourings were never made in NA). I realize he was probably generous, but I need to get another appraisal done and hoping to have a higher value insured in case anything happens to it.

    Thanks!

(preparing for "dude, its a 23 year old car. $2000.00 tops." lol)
    1976 2002, 1987 325is, s50 1991 touring, 1996 328i vert

Shit. I'd gladly pay $10k for it. I'm guessing insurance might see the value somewhere around $7-9k for it, the kinda high mileage on the motor/trans doesn't help too much.

This could be a potentially interesting thread actually. It's obviously the car that nearly everyone on here wants or has wanted at some point; and with the number of batshit E30 prices, someone will chime in saying it'll bring high teens, lol.

Why not insure it for a value you see fair through a collector car insurance company?

This. Agreed value is what you're looking for. Assuming this isn't your DD, Hagerty is your best friend.
