decent car but someone needs to put down their crack pipe

Its getting harder to be an E30 enthusiast these days... I remember when an E30 was an extremely cheap way to buy a sports oriented car that was easy to own and easy to work on. [sorry for sounding old just then]

I blame the media. These cars have gotten too much attention and now people are paying what I consider ridiculous premiums for these cars just because they're an E30. I didn't get in to E30's just because Frank Ocean made it sexy nor did I because I read Jalopnik, a publication that is only able to talk about E30's, Miata's, and Subayotas. The E30 represented a "full" package for me, and yes, value was part of that equation. These hipster f&cks are removing that variable and thus, the value many of enjoyed by owning an E30.

A lot of guys on this forum would find it silly to pay E36 M3 money for a lightly modded 325is, because we understand the value equation.

I love E30's more than any other car for exactly what they are; But I keep feeling like I went away on a vacation for a month only to come home and find that I'm now getting charged a cover to get in to my favorite bar[read car].

$3500 for that car would be a steal, but 10kay is robbery. I think the $6k sounds about right. Maybe 7 given our current inflated market.

didn't see the ad but agree that e30 prices have gone up significantly in the last 10 years. I bought my first e30 in '02 for 2.3k, an '88 325i w/ 170k miles, recent 3K paint job, all records, perfect body, complete functioning dash/interior/etc.. that car would be $4k today.

just so happens i left the ad up on an open window. perhaps 3500 is low but the seller says that the car is from wisconsin and it has rust. you can actually see in the photo below it has a rust spot in the valance below the battery. selling a rusty car in the south is like the kiss of death.

also, the air conditioning needs fixing. i can't figure out why the speed sensor needs replacing if the speedo works. i guess that is minor anyway.

Black/black, Wisconsin car prior to my ownership. Always garaged up north, minimal rust. I had it professionally shipped here on December of 2011 as a second car, barely driven. 5 speed - well maintained; 20k in receipts in last 50,000 miles. Clutch, brake, trans, diff, oil, plugs all changed just prior to transfer. 1 small crack on dash otherwise excellent interior. Power windows, sunroof, and locks all functioning. Car has UUC short shift kit installed. All panels original save hood, which was replaced with dot-r panel in 1996. Exterior otherwise very good for its age. Everything there - spare, tool set, original dealer stamped owners manual. Car drives beautifully. Clean title in hand.

                          Work done during my ownership:
Ground Control Complete Street Touring Coilover Kit with Koni inserts, front strut housing work and powder coat done by Ground Control
Entire front suspension replaced with new components:
                          Tie rods
                          All 4 Wheel hub bearings
                          Control arms with bushings

Radio replaced with Nakamichi unit that matches interior lighting

                          New battery

Refurbished rear subframe with adjustable toe/camber modification and bushings
                          Rear trailing arms
Custom new fabricated brake lines from master cylinder to rear

Will include 16x8 E38 Style 5's in 5x120 bolt pattern with high quality 8380 lab adapters to 4x100 and brand new Falken tires. Wheel covers will be included.

                          Still needs:
A/C recharge, no indication of leaks per previous owner
Speed sensor to differential (odometer still functioning properly)

                            Nice save!

$10k is steep in my opinion for that car but it does look good.

It's understandable why E30's (or any car really) get priced this way. Nobody likes the feeling of selling a car that you put money into and getting 20-30% of your money back.
