    im at a crossroad

im bored of my e30.. I know crazy right? so now im thinking of selling it and buying either a frs or older wrx/sti, ive run insurance quotes for a frs and sti, not a wrx tho.. the frs would run me $300/month and the sti is $260/month. outragous!! im at the point where I think having no maintence worries would be wonderful, but do I wanna pay $650, car payment and insurance costs, just to have a warranty? then I think sti, quick good looking awd. but do I wanna pay $500+/month to own a car that will most likey be at 130-150k on the odo and probably have major maintence cost soon... then I start to think about why im bored with the e30. LACK OF POWER!
sooooo should I just motor swap it then? s50, m60, ls1? cars paid off, insurance is sub $100/month. cost probably 5-6k to do. which is a hell of a lot cheaper then a newer car... decisions decisions..

what you guys think? im sure some of you have come to this point.

I bought my e30 after selling a wrx swapped OBS wagon with about 260whp. It was a hoot to drive, and a total sleeper, but does not compare to the e30 at all. You'll end up spending well more on the subaru that you do on your e30, and end up regretting the decision.

Any STI with 130k miles should be a no-go, those cars are always abused and you're just inheriting someone else's problems

That's what I was thinking. Why buy a car that a 19 year old beat the heck out of for the past 4 years?

Plus, acceleration loses its appeal after a while, you are always going to want something faster after you become used to the car you have. Tight handling, and being able to whip around corners is ALWAYS fun. I'd like a "slow" e30 or miata with a proper suspension set up over a STI any day of the week.

I have only had three, Lambo made the first one. I made the last two and did not like the way the first one looked. Settled on this one.

Get a cheap second car so you can do the e30 right. I drive a Saturn most of the time so I can build the e30 exactly how I want it and not rush putting it back together over the weekend so I can drive it during the week.

My e30 is my "second" or "extra" car but I drive it more than my main car. Whenever I get bored of it, I drive my truck for a day or two. Then get back in the e30 and fall in love with it all over again.

If it is cheaper to swap the e30 then I would do that. It will have much more character than either of those other cars you were looking at.

Back in 2003 I figured it was time to stop messing with my E30 and buy a modern car. Picked up a brand-new Evo VIII. Soon modified it with bigger turbo, downpipe, exhaust, injectors, EBC, and custom dyno tune. I was making 360 hp at the wheels. It was fast as hell and had tons of grip.

I enjoyed the car...but something was missing. Then I drove a friend's E28 535is around a local racetrack and I remembered why I loved old BMW's. Took my E30 out of storage (glad I didn't sell it!) and put it back into service. Never looked back.

I don't think any car will be able to replace what your E30 has to offer you. If you're craving more power go for an engine swap. I'm sure that will be more rewarding in every way than buying a new car with a stronger engine.

I think having another car for DD duty (not necessarily new, but reliable) would also take the stress off of opening your E30's world.

Or if you just want something new in your life, keep the E30 as a DD, and find another enthusiast car to build up.

Buy a really slow car to daily drive so when you drive your E30 it feels faster.

id do that except I cant stand having a slow car. which is my current problem...

lack of space, living in an apt stops me from owning multiple cars
