INSURANCE ADVICE - URGENT.. Save my 318is!

    Hey guys!
    So here is the story:
My 91 318is got rear ended 2 months ago. They are claiming it is totaled (saying that the repairs are 75% of the value of the car). In reality, the car is getting fixed as we speak for 700. My E30 is pretty clean. Clean title, crack-free dash, mint tan sport seats, and the exterior is a 8/10. Car has tons of upgrades too: 140k mile m42 and trans with TONS of pre-emptive maintenance done to it in the past 5k miles, Z3 steering rack, Z3 short shifter, BBS RKs, and much more!

So here is the short of it:
Insurance IS totaling out the car (tried getting around it, theres no way). They want to give me a little over 2,000 for the car and I get to KEEP the car
    ..

Do you think it is possible to sell my (possibly) Salvaged E30 for over 3,000 respectfully?
Or should I drop the claim altogether, keep the clean title, and when it comes to sell, it might sell for over 5,000?

I AM selling the car in the near future.. So money is what I am following here.

Here is a pic of her in all her clean title glory...

Please guys, gotta give the insurance company a decision tomorrow..

    Thanks for your time!

For my claim, I had taken the car to a BMW certified body shop and had them appraise the car. You need to have proof it is worth what it is.

They already have a 3rd party appraiser come out and see the car and the damage, determined it is "totaled"

Don't let them dick you around, that car is worth more then $2000. Probably worth around 6k+, if you can make them realize this then they wont total it.

Okay, does anyone have a name of a BMW appraisal company?

2k lol tell them to fack off and get a good appraisal on it. It's not totalled if the repair cost is less than value of car. So get a quote and show them.

My brother got his car appraised numerous times, then went to arbitration with the insurance company, walked out with the money he wanted,

if you get over 2k and is more than what the car needs to get it repaired, then i don't see the prob. I mean, really, non m/non swapped e30s should be worth around 2-4k. So if you're already getting half of that, you should be in the safe zone.

It will have a branded title and he will have to waste his time getting it inspected to get it back on the road after he rebuilds it.

It is worth at least 4k. With a salvaged title however, he'll be lucky to get 2k

I'm wrapping up a similar situation and your car looks a ton cleaner than mine and THEIR 3rd party appraiser came in at $6K+ for my car

They are jacking you around right now. Get your own appraisal and get it sorted out.

I hope you can get this figured out.

Do NOT take that offer. Get what the car is worth. Find ad's for similar cars in the value range. It really is the case between totaling or fixing a car.

Looks like the body had some issues prior to the wreck. Depending on the color/condition of the interior, presence of service records, condition of the rest of the car, ownership history etc., I'd say it was a $3.5K car MAX.

You should be able to squeeze more than $2K out of them though.

Tell them their 3rd party appraiser is not a certified mechanic capable of making that decision alone and that your nearest BMW dealer would be more than willing to give an accurate appraisal on the cars worth.

When I was trying to get a loan for a bmw, I was told in order for the loan to happen they need to inspect the car to make sure it is in sound condition. I told her instantly "unless your inspector is bmw certified he is not capable of inspecting a bmw properly, would you let a KIA technician work on your chevy?"

She said No, I wouldn't. And asked if Kuni BMW would work for the inspection.
Its just a woman, or man behind the desk, read up and pick their brain with every question you can think of.
