I just find it funny that with a leaky head gasket that was sitting had led to rockers breaking... Just my 2 cents.

If I knew a timing belt could stretch under such a rediculous 1 minute of strain, I would have never considered the m20. I just can't believe that..

the timing belt didn't stretch and you didn't break 5 rocker arms from hydrolock. the head gasket probably isn't at fault either. one cylinder maybe, five.....no.

notice how you broke only the intake rockers and not the exhaust? my bet is the pistons were installed backwards.

i hope you get it figured out though.

Well.. as stated again. If it was a clearance issue from me timing it.. it would have popped BEFORE THE CAR WAS EVEN RUNNING. I had the car idle to bleed coolant, and had drove it around the shop in and out of the shop a few times. So.. If the pistons were installed wrong, why would the rockers break not immediately? Why would a belt stretch/skip?

I am only saying hydrolock because the only thing I can think of that aactually accompanied the engine (since it was internally leaking coolant). Any timing issues should have been forgotten at my fault since the car was running and if they were timed incorrectly I would have had eithor idle issues or interference...

So.. pulled the head today.. and this is what I discovered.

Pistons unmarked.. arrow pointing to front of car.
          Cylinders 4&5

Valves are all aok... none are bent from interference and have no signs of damage.

I'd be measuring your piston heights at TDC against each other. If it really did hydrolock and break those rockers, then you could be dealing with bent rods as well.

Looks good so far, but while you're in there, be sure.

If anyone had any other input please let me know. I will be checking tdc height I really hope everything is ok in the botton

Rockers weren't adjusted properly. Either waaaay too loose or waaaaay too tight. Throw some used rockers in and adjust to .010
