how much is this owner worth?

let's talk about the value a current owner gives a car. we all have preferences/prejudices on e30's but i'm curious to know of there is a consensus on evaluating the prospective PO.

after nearly a year, the owner of a '91 318i has responded to my note left under a wiper blade.

she's the original owner and obviously loves the car. she claims to be selling it because she's moving and the cash flow at the new house will prevent her from having the car serviced at the dealer. she has ALWAYS had the car serviced at the dealer she bought it from; this includes routine oil changes.

she apparently is the consciencious, original owner that i have always considered to be next best to new-from-the-dealer.

presuming her story to be true, how much if anything does this history add to the value of the car? or at least mitigate a high asking price?

the stand alone value of the car is easy for me to judge, so i don't need the standard r3v m42/4 door hatred.

    thanks,
    robert w.

What did I just read man?

I could see this being a thread if there was some very sentimental story behind the car, not just a one-owner E30...

If it's clean for a good price, buy it.

Peace of mind is worth something different to everyone.
    Different strokes for different folks.

i agree, infact you cant really put a price on piece of mind.. which is why im going all out with my e30 and replacing as much as i can possibly afford to replace before i even register and inspect it.. because piece of mind is worth more than the parts i'm buying.. with that said.. if she has all the receipts and maintenance records from the day the car left the dealership and the car is a good price... why wouldnt you buy it? i wouldn't recommend over paying for an e30 when you could get one in lesser condition and spend that extra cash getting it to the same or better condition than that womans car you know?

If she has it serviced at a dealership, then it should be in pretty good shape, Dealerships are there to fix things but even more so to make money- so I am sure they have always at least tried to replace anything that was damaged. Sounds like it should be a decent car.
