    '86 Euro 325i cabrio, worth picking up?

    EDIT: Just got a call, it's sold. So ignore thread, sorry. Not 5 mins after it's posted too. :P

    Found this on a local classifieds, and speaking with the owner it seems to be in good condition. I'm going out to look at it Saturday evening, and if it looks good, I'll have a mechanic check it out. But...I'm a bit leery about a few points, mainly the top and the paint he mentions (he also told me of a primered spot the size of the palm of a hand on the passenger fender). I'm looking for a RELIABLE fun daily driver, and this could be it. Or it could be a *very* expensive project (which I don't need).
    Any advice? Is there anything I should specifically ask about when looking at it (aside from the paperwork proving all claimed work was done, and why he's selling it after owning it for only five months)?

    Edit: I will post pictures from when I look at it tomorrow night.

    ===========================================

    Euro E30 Convertible

    1986 model imported from Germany. Unique car with smaller Euro bumpers, km speedo, and all interior buttons printed in German. Euro front license plate frame.

    Car has about 155k miles. 5-Speed, leather Recarro seats, power options.

    The Good: This car runs fantastic and the 2.5 6-cyl begs to be driven! Rebuilt engine installed in July 2005, at the same time the following was replaced: clutch, water pump, fan, timing belt. New exhaust from the manifold back Oct. 2004. New springs & struts Feb. 2001. Good Tires. New stereo includes Blaupunkt CD/MP3/Radio, Blaupunkt & Rockford speakers. Interior in good shape with no tears or cracks through leather. No rust!

    The Not-So-Good: A previous owner had it painted dark green from the original diamond black, so the door jams are black (but they did paint the underside of the hood and trunk lid). The green paint is oxidized in spots and the whole car could use a respray at this point. The top should be replaced soon, but it’s pretty tight as-is; a few drips but nothing major. Back window is pretty fogged. Previous owners said A/C works but needs a charge, I’ve had the car since September and never had a reason to try it. Needs rear speaker cover on passenger side.

    This has been my little project since I bought it, but financial circumstances and the loss of a garage are forcing me to cull the herd. I have extra back windows with motors that have decent weather stripping on them. Extra interior misc. panels and parts.

    I saw this on CL and thought it was cool until I realized that it was D Schwartz that had been resprayed poorly to a dark green. To get the car to look good you would have to have it repainted properly. A lot of work for a 3500 car if you ask me. It is sold though, so you don't gotta worry. ;)
