I call bullshit on the wheels story unless either party releases PM's or gives evidence, I've had plenty of incidents where people have wanted something specific done, and I gave them an outline on time, and they cried wolf a week after when the deal in question was to take at least a month. For all we know the buyer didn't like and got pissed and is trying to make Van look bad. But it could be either way, Van could indeed be a scammer. But before you guys go oh Van got what was coming, you should want to hear the story..... Not just take one guys word for it.Leave a comment:

So the plot thickens. I don't wish the "thief" any badness. No matter who the thief is.
I feel like this story has a lot of juicy bits that aren't out yet...Leave a comment:

I don't understand why would thiefs risk time in jail stealing something that is least desirable in E30 market.
Insurance stuff looks like they are going to get away without taking care of me, and storage unit ins has a stipulation in the contract that waives all liability and notes that they recommend no more than 5k worth of items in the unit. That's 2 sets of wheels and a pair of recaros. Some that's kind of a joke as well.
.
That is 1986 4 door, engine is M20. There is just not much they can make selling the parts. There is no quick money to be made on these parts, to get maximum out of each part you would have to sell them on the forums or ebay, something that thief would avoid.

Perfect example, the guy i bought my e30 from said it would pass smog, it didn't. So I was out $40 for the failed test then another $150 for a 'repair' and 'retest', being out $190 over something as small as smog sucks ass, especially when you barely make enough to drive to work sometimes!
So I understand more than enough why he's upset about being out $1k, hell I was ready to beat the shit out of the guy who sold me my car! Well mostly because he was a arrogant asshole who kept me waiting 80 miles from home with no response for 5 hours before I could even see the car. But that's a completely different story.
All in all getting your car stolen sucks, especially when it's a project car, I haven't been on forums much ever, but just seeing this one I can tell it's a bit different, and the lack of drama and general camaraderie between everyone makes this a good community to want to be a part of. I know I'm still a "noobie" here but I could care less, I've learned a lot through this forum about my car and so far in the short time of being an e30 owner it's cool to see other people who share the same enthusiasm about cars as me.
So hopefully the asshole who stole this car gets caught or ends up getting his shit stolen too. Because karma's a bitch, and what goes around comes around.Leave a comment:

Dunno, I'd be pretty pissed if I was out $1000 at my age. This really isn't the place to post things like that. This is not about a deal that happened in the past. This is about a very special project that someone poured their heart and soul into for many years, that was stolen by some piece of shit, who obviously never learned not to take things that didn't belong to them.
How about a new thread is started for that, and leave this one alone for the original topic at hand?
Bad stuff sucks in general, so yeah.Leave a comment:

Eh, it's needed to add perspective to this story when everyone is feeling so bad for a scammer. If he can regain through insurance most of his money while robbing people of theirs... then why not share the fact? The drama seems to be multifaceted, part due to April Fools Joke, part to alleged failed sales transaction. I think some people found that these threads would be a good place to air dirty laundry, and while I can't say whether or not I'd have done the same, the deed is done.Leave a comment:
