What would you pay for a mint stock e30 with low miles

    For the collective.

If you were looking at buying a low milage, completely unmodded and stock e30, say 125k ish miles, what would you pay?

I tend to side with the mid 5k ish range for a completely unmolested and rust free car. Maintenance records would bump this to 6kish if they were really complete.

    What would you guys pay?

i picked up a 1986 325e with zero rust, 120000 miles, two sets of wheels, two sets of seats, a uninstalled crack free dash, a box of spare parts "belts hoses ect" and a maintence history that is as thick as an encyclopedia for $5000 flat.

did i mention it had a pretty good chunk of aftermarket parts also?

25k is low mileage. 125k is high mileage. Get it right.

Well - relatively low mileage, given the age of E30s and the generally high (~200k) mileage of most E30s for sale.

Seriously. They're 20+ year old cars but that does not mean 125k is justifiable as low mileage.

My car has 37k miles, does that equal showroom miles?

I would disagree with you. On any highly sought after model, after 20+ years low milage has a different meaning. We're talking like 5k miles a year here. I know of noone who does that little driving, but apparently they exist.

I walk past a 30k mile e30 M3 every day at work.....Turner Motorsport......Will's "prom queen" as we call it :)

I've haven't seen him drive the car in over a year.....I hate seeing it there.

Just bought my 2 owner 91 pb auto vert with 81k on it for $4k bone stock. Seats could use some conditioning, body has some rock chips and scratches here and their but zero rust or dings. AC works and car is damn good condition for its age. No records other than stamps in the maint book but it was obviously well cared for.... I figure its worth $6k when seats are reconditioned and it is buffed and detailed out.

Ok, how about if we make it one of those 1 owner, dealer maintained unicorn type deals?

Mileage is relative. Some cars that have lower miles could be worse than some with higher miles. It all depends on overall condition of the car. To be honest though, I wouldn't pay anything more than 3-3.5k. It's not exactly a classic to dump money on. As much as I love e30s, they really are just a typical "everyday" car unless it's an M. The hype about it being "the next 240sx" or the cool kid's "drift cars" shouldn't make us pay the drift tax.

I'd consider anything below 100k miles to be pretty low mileage for an E30, precisely because they were "everyday cars" for most people. Prices have definitely been going up. I've read a number of threads by guys who want to get back into an E30 after a break, titled something to the effect of, "What the hell happened to E30 prices!"
R3v is also prone to semi-conflicting advice. Many would advise to spend more up front on a good example, rather than later on costly repairs, but ask their opinion on a "good example" and R3v will probably tell you that it's overpriced. It's all pretty arbitrary. They're worth whatever you or other perspective buyers are willing to pay for them.

I think $5k is a reasonable price for an unmolested, 120k miles stock example
