    camaro z28 question

so today i was driving home this blue camaro z28 revved on me. i nodded my head and when the light turned green we were off. i didnt launch and neither did he, i did chirp second but i dont know if he did. anyway, it was uphill and we were even all through first and second and part of third. about halfway through my third he started to pull on me and then we shut it off. i was just wondering what are the specs of a z28. all i can tell is that he had an exhaust and thats about it. my mods include a jc chip, custom exhaust with 3.25 piping and 3.25 lsd.

i dunno man, it had the z28 stickers on the side and the square tipped exhausts. it could've been a badged six cylinder too. i dunno. anyway, specs would be cool on either car/quarter mile times

            '93-'97 LT1 Z28s:
            run 14.0@100mph on average stock

            '98-'02 LS1 Z28s:
run low 13's @106mph on average stock

I've seen alot of Z28 badged V6 camaros around, its not very unusual to see them really. Much like how some BMW owners will but M3 and M5 badges on their regular 3 & 5 series cars.

Just for reference, most 3.8 V6 F-bodies run high 15s, low 16s stock. Thats about what your car should be running, judging by your mods.

the more important question is how many f bodies are still stock? :P

The only late model Camaro that an eta can outgun is the 93-96 base model 3.4 V6s, which had something like 160 horsepower but ran the 0-60 in 10 seconds. The Z28 Appearance Package was optional on those cars and if equipped, looks identical to the Z28 (16" wheels, blackout roof and rearview mirrors) except the badging and dual exhaust. But a few companies (like RK Sport) sells dummy tips.

Then again, I've driven a Z28 that was in real bad shape mechanically and it was a dog.

ive raced my friend with an 87 z28, i believe its a 305, i can get him from 1-2nd gears, but after that he pulls away. BTW, he has a SSK, cut out exhaust and its chipped.

Pretty decent car for an 87, as well as mine. Its cool to compare the difference in technology in the different cars, even though they are the same year.

Odds are it was a V6.

I have raced 2 real Z28's on the interstate, and can walk them pretty hard in 3rd, and peace out in 4th.....but an eta? Errr.....

Yes, ETA's are decent in the lower gears, especially with a 3.25....but they don't have the torque load to wipe out a Z28, even though there is a significant weight difference.
