Body looks decent once cleaned. Hell even a decent cut and polish would breathe plenty of life into that old paint. Do it. Offer him $300, flush everything, replace what's needed and drive it.

If it was non-op'd I would buy it for sure. If not you may have a BIG bill waiting for you at the DMV. It still might be worth it if it wasnt non-op'd though

Buy it, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how easy it cleans up.

Duhh its worth it.. Whether or not you want to fix it up.. Personally, I would do a quick part out and pocket and easy at least 6 digits.

I'm all for saving old BMWs, but it will definitely cost you more than $120 to get it running right. If you have the space, I would buy it, part it out and use that money to buy something better. Those rims alone will recoup a lot of the cost.omg really?!?!?! This car has a ton of potential.

Sorry guys, had a busy day. I'm going to make the deal soon, however logistics for me are still a problem. The car is about a 2 hour drive away, depending on traffic. Should I tow or u haul trailer it? If I'm lucky he'd let me spend a day doing the repairs in his driveway and I could drive it back. I know him well.
By the way, my plans for it would be to make it a cross between a track car/daily driver.

It blows my mind what some of you guys would part out. Come to the Southeast, as our harsh climate makes ten year old vehicles look worse than this.
I think ,OP, that you have your answer.

Buy it, Fix it, Drive that shit! Clean it up, if it's not single stage paint and you can't revive it, get a Maaco paint job and be happy.

I'd buy it for sure.
Plan on changing ALL fluids including gas, oil, brake, coolant.
Plan on replacing most of the bushings and hoses... Possibly gaskets too!
I wouldn't even try to crank that car without replacing the timing belt.
