    Am I crazy? Should I buy a 633CSi

    Hey guys,

So I just picked up my first E30 and I love it. I think the old bimmer bug has hit me because by my house there is a beautiful 5 speed bronzit 633CSi for sale. I went to look at it and the car is absolutely perfect interior/exterior wise. All original too.

Now, the problem (or is it not one?) is that the car has 288K miles on it. I am going to drive it tonight and see how it runs, but according to the owner it's perfect.

I'm wondering what you guys think I should pay for this thing/if I should run because it will just be a huge money pit. I know it's not a 635, but it caught my eye because of the condition it's in.

Let me know your guys' thoughts

    Thanks,
    Elliott

Mileage is irrelevant. Condition is the only thing that matters.

        Any idea what it's worth?

If I decide to buy it i'll surely put them in here.

The reason i'm thinking of getting this car is for a "daily" cruiser (driven probably 3 times per week for errands. I bus to work). My E30 right now is set up more as a track/weekend/fun car so i'm looking for more of a cruiser.

What year is it? There is an early (e12 based) and late (e28 based).

633 is irreverent. Those M30B32s are very rev happy. Also, certain years got the 15lb flywheel.

Look for RUST. Front fenders. Strut towers. Under the carpet/floors. Everywhere. E24s, especially early ones, get the rust real bad. I got mine running, drove it a bit, and sold it since the body was terrible.

They are incredibly cool cars. Hope it works out!

Before adding another BMW to your stable, I'd get any issues with the e30 taken care of first.

Sharks seem to have pretty serious rust issues as well. Make sure you look that thing over really well for that kinda stuff.

Everyone likes something different but i never bonded with my 633.
I sold it to my boyfriend up the street after I realized I just wasnt an e24 guy. Maybe an M6 would change my mind but the stock 633 just didnt do it for me

You need to buy that car so I don't have to. My first BMW was a 633CSi and it was a magical shitheap.

It's an '84 so that would be E28-based correct?

I will definitely check for rust issues.

                  "shitheap" sounds promising haha.

So guys....what would be a fair price assuming everything checks out??

It's next to impossible to gauge the value of a car without pics and only on the assumption that "everything checks out." WAY too many variables.

warning! the classic bimmer bug is spensive! but if you got it like that, go for it. 8)

I'd only buy a euro. Otherwise you'll be settling for the uglier twin sister.
