They are both great cars. Go for the one in better condition for the price. Engine swaps really changed everything, so now it doesn't matter what model the car is. If u want more power it can simply be swapped. It kind of a shame though imo, as the 318i and 325 are distinctly different. This is being lost due to swaps.Leave a comment:

While I love my 318, I don't think Id buy another.
Fun car, but put it up against pretty much any other BMW, and it doesn't compete performance wise, I didn't get much more than 3-4 mpgs better compared to my M20. Not worth it.
Most fun car to toss around though, did notice the weight difference pretty well but theres zero feeling of torque coming from the m42.Leave a comment:

I would not rule out non-s versions... A 4dr with lsd is sweet. All depends on the condition and price of the individual car in question.Leave a comment:

Both are great in their own way, but I do like my 318is VERY much! You'll have to choose for yourself.Leave a comment:

I've had both vehicles before, idk if it's just me but there's is a noticeabale difference on gas mileage. But as well as the power. One of the main reasons i got my current 318iS was because it was a slick top :)Leave a comment:

I went with a 318is and I love it. It's light and nimble and a blast to drive. High revving engine and great fuel economy. It's not quite as powerful as the 325is, but like others have said not by much.Leave a comment:

Seriously? Like this has never been asked.

Come on. At least try.Last edited by Asbradley21; 08-23-2013, 11:25 PM.Leave a comment:

325is for ease of ownership, and enough power to get you around. 318is m42 can be a real pain in the ass, and also slower than 325is, but not by much.Leave a comment:
