Does anybody know if there is a company or individual that makes carbon fiber doors for our e30's? I'm talking about the whole door not just the cards. If there is a thread already about this please delete, I'm using my iPhone and it won't let me use the search tab. Thanks

Uh, why do you want carbon fiber doors? And more importantly, can you afford them, let alone justify their costs for their minimal weight savings?Does anybody know if there is a company or individual that makes carbon fiber doors for our e30's? I'd rather look into aluminum if I were you, especially if you're not racing. -

I'm pretty sure there is a good amount of weight that can be shed from replacing the doors with CF. Yes I can afford the cost other wise I wouldn't be asking. Weight is part of the reason and for shows is the other. I would paint the outsides and leave the interior. Thanks for asking my reasons though.sigpicComment

They make the doors above also. They could probably use their molds and make an all carbon door but it would probably be well over $1000 and they would be race car quality not for show. I would also want some Kevlar and some aluminum honeycomb laminated in to add protection from side impacts if you are running these on a street car with no cage.Last edited by 10Toes; 08-29-2013, 01:22 PM.

Thanks for the link tentoes, I plan on running a custom 6 point chromoly cage with detachable side bars soon, I appreciate your thought of safety.sigpicComment

that is not gonna offer you squat in protection. Nascar style door bar would be a far better choice.http://www.pesch.cz/en/product/fiber...-bmw-e30-coupe

Not gonna argue semantics but that material was designed into the door vs added as an after thought. If designed in from the start that would make the door a bit $$$$.
edit:
You plan to crash test it to see if it will work or have some computer mock ups done? I also hope they are covered with a membrane to prevent them from splintering. Kevlar and carbon splinters are a _____.Comment

Just FYI To search on an iPhone you need to hit the advanced search link to bring you to the search page so it doesn't flip out as soon as you type one letter. Took me a bit to figure it out but I don't have a computer anymore just my phone so I had to figure something out lolShawn @ Bimmerbuddies
