Hello friends E30,
I'd like to introduce you one of my older projects here. 18 years ago I bought this kit on COBRA Jaguar XJ12 base (axles, brakes, differential). I assembled it from parts of the electrical system of a BMW and E28 with a 3.5 liter engine. A battle XJ12 provided the necessary axle parts, which were, as usual, up in the 80s when British cars screwed with thread. The front drive shaft has a metric and imperial screw and provides a back so to speak that connects the old with the new world began.
The car has a body made of fiberglass, which is set to a frame. The sturdy frame is TÜV tested to 800hp. The weight of the vehicle is approximately 1.1 tons. Due to the rather stale chassis technology of the Jaguar base the handling is miles away from a E30. It is more like a ride on a cannonball. Fortunately, the 3.5-liter engine is more a good-natured engine here. The car remains very relaxed and mobile is wonderful for Sunday rides. It really should go right to the point, would have to be rebuilt on a more powerful engine along with locking differential. But such a dangerous mix I will rather not have the time. The passive safety is a rather sad story, no headrests, head on rather than behind the windshield. The brakes work surprisingly well, however, they must indeed bring only a "half" 12 XJ to a halt.
The M30 engine comes from an E28 535i. It has 218 hp and was converted as part of the authorization couple of years ago on G-Cat. Previously graced the katloser a Cobra exhaust with side pipe and a bit more sporty soundscape.
Mr. Wick is in the community and ALPINA E23 745i scene a known quantity. He overhauled and optimized the BMW engines M10-M20-M30-M88-S38 and especially the supercharged M102 and M106. It has been many upgrade ended with corresponding motors E28 and E30. In no particular order, we will present parts of his fleet, and perhaps also make a visit to its hallowed halls.
