    So, it finally happened

It appears my battery is drained. I try to start the car and the interior lights go completely off while starting and the dash computer resets. It can barely turn the crank one turn.

Looks like im gonna have to go up the street for a charger. :( And i was supposed to go to a party tonite.
    Im now E30less.

What good would that do me? Im going to go out on a limb and say its a charging issue. I have driven the car 1.3 miles in 3 weeks. Im guessing my DME, computer, radio, and alarm drained it.

Also its cold as fuck weakening the battery. I dont have a multimeter but I would assume its making well under 12 volts.

It was -2 here last night, and my wife's 325i wouldn't start today. My car starts right up (gotta love the Optima Red Top), but her car will hardly crank.

Yeah I think I am going to get an Optima. As little as I drive it a deep cycle battery is what I need.

The car had it when I bought it, I was beyond stoked. Even if it didn't, I was going to get one anyway. Doesn't matter how cold it gets, my car cranks and starts right up the first time, every time. A few months ago, we hit -10, and that morning it still started right up. One of the best investments you'll make on the car, Ryan. Don't think, do it.

                  1. Why don't you drive the car that much?

                  2. I have some shit brand battery in my carb'd Jeep, and the fucker fires right up. Luck, I guess. I've NEVER had a cold start problem - then again, I don't drive BMW's in the winter

I live within a mile from work and our city is a college town so the bus system is excellent. People in this town drive for shit so I usually try to keep the car safe. I catch rides often. I only drive it when I leave town.

Its pretty funny actually, people here are so judgemental. I come in on the bus or leave on foot and money grubbin ho's assume I am broke. Then somehow the word gets to them the "brand" i drive and they get much frendlier.

Word. My car is hardly as pretty as yours but it gets parked for the winter. Just keep the keys in my pocket (the spare set from the parts car). Usually works as proof when the doubting tom's come out in force.

                      Keep it slideways!!

i think u should put another battery in your trunk, connected to your other one when you dont drive it. youll have an extra 12v to help keep stuff alive since you dont drive it much.

I've heard these are better then Optimas, plus they are cheaper and lighter.

I have an Optima Yellow top in my tacoma and I have been pretty happy with it, although I have had one shit out on me randomly (aperently they do that sometimes). I have a red top in my e30 that was there when I bought it, I'm going to get an Odyssey when it dies.

I used to use the "I drive a BMW" line all the time. I've got a gf now, but if I were to use it now, it'd be, "yeah, I drive a BMW CONVERTIBLE." panty...drop...station.
