    Getting my 1st E30

Woo hoo! I'm flying to Seattle tomorrow to pick up my 1st E30. I have been on this forum for a few weeks learning as much as I could. I can't wait! I will be driving from Seattle to Twin Falls, ID on Friday. Then Twin Falls to Las Vegas Saturday. Then Las Vegas to Phoenix Sunday. It's a 1990 325is with 130k. Will need a new steering rack and oil pan seal but otherwise good to go. I'll post pictures along the way. If anyone is along the way let me know. I'll only be stopping for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and some gambling in Vegas ;D

Damn, I'm usually scared of driving long distance on a car I don't know yet. Good luck and congrats on purchase!

Have fun on the 93. Personally, I wouldn't be risking that road in an unproven car, but that's just me because I've driven it many times. It's just a little further to get over to I-15S vis the 84/86 in Pocatello and then you won't be driving with 100 mile stretches of nobody in case of a breakdown.

Alternately, you could take the 93 south to the 80 east, then down the 15 s as well.

That looks like a great car .. Id take all the risks you can in lieu of what Farbin says .. The stupidest things Ive done on road trips are the most memorable and make for the greatest stories. Ive always made it to my destination and the setbacks along the way make it an adventure

Haha I'm in vegas if you have the time, I'd be lost in how amazing it looks though. Just let me know what time and maybe we could meet up for lunch. My e30 is no where near comparison. but hopefully getting there.

Ohh and i'd buy a few rolls of painters tape. You know why :)

                    Enjoy the trip

Closely inspect that headgasket too. IJS, when I got my e30 it was diagnosed by a reputable Euro shop as being a bad oil pan gasket. Sure enough it was the head gasket

+1 for wishing my first e30 looked that nice
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

Thanks all it is a great looking car. I wasn't in the market for such a nice one but my wife talked me into it since it will be my daily driver. I'm selling my 08 WRX for it.

one reason I posted my trip was to get feedback like this, so I appreciate it. I am considering going through Salt Lake, I'm going to play it by ear and see how the car performs during the 1st day. Plus I'd love to see the Salt Flats.

Very true, I am so excited about the car but I'm really excited about the road trip, my wife is coming too. I have never seen Washington, Oregon, or Idaho. Even in the Nevada desert we'll be passing area 51. Maybe Walter White will be out there making meth too :D

I did buy painter's tape! My wife was thoroughly confused when I packed it, but then it made total sense when I explained it. I'll let you know approx arrival time once we hit the road Sat. Probably won't make lunch, guessing 1-2pm, staying at NYNY and then dinner later at Ramsay's in Paris.

Thanks! I will be getting a picture of the car in front of Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas and stopping in for a beer :p. I thought about bringing my growler & filling it for home!

If that is the case, then I'd surely take the 93 south to the 80 east, then you'll go right past Bonneville on the way to the I-15 Junction in SLC. Then the 15 through to LV.

I'm also about to purchase my first e30. A 1991 325i and I'm super excited about it! I'll leave a picture here. $2,000 is what I'm paying.
