Fair offer on a gasket kit

So I am in need of a new gasket kit. Bought an e30 and want to replace all gaskets except for the head gasket because I am reading 180 psi +- 2psi across the board. So locally someone is selling a federal moguel gasket kit (full kit) including all belts. His ad says 200+, I am smart enough to know that is probably a way over what it is worth.
What should I reasonably offer him for the kit ?
I noticed they dont make federal moquel gasket kits anymore. Should I be worried that they are a shitty brand that got snuffed out ? Should age of a gasket kit worry me (this kit is discontinued) ?

Victor Reinz, Goetze and Elring are the only gaskets I'd use. Unlike the aforementioned three companies, "Federal Mogul" didn't make a single OE part on the car.

Thanks for the reply. Other than the Head gasket, would a shitty any other gasket in the kit cause me problems? besides maybe an oil leak in the rear main or the valve cover gasket. I am more interested in the belts he has but i dont even know what those go for seperately (all 3 belts with timing).

Any leak is a bad leak. I wouldn't be excited about redoing the intake manifold gaskets, water pump gasket, thermostat housing gasket, oil pan gasket, exhaust manifold gaskets etc...

Continental v-belts are cheap, I'm sure you can find them for less than 20 bucks a pop.

My philosophy when it comes to replacement parts is spend money now so you save time later. You don't want to be redoing stuff you could have avoided by using good parts the first time.

I'm sure just getting the part numbers you're looking for and ordering them on autohausaz.com or rmeuropean.com is going to come out cheaper.

            Amazon.com

Funny as it sounds, I found my M60 HG kit (minus HG, so I'd call it a top end kit, but whatever) for $200 cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else. Even with my discount through work, Amazon was cheaper. Victor Reinz too.

Use the VR number, not the BMW part number to search.

When I say shitty I am assuming this kit is shitty because there I cant find any info on this kit anywhere. So I assume the worst.
So I guess what needs to be established first is if this is a shitty, mid range or OEM type kit ? So far I found one account which said the HG failed but he autoxd it. Another account I read said the kit help up fine DD it. So... which is it?

Most people autocrossing are running OEM or OEM equivalent headgaskets on stock motors and they don't usually fail unless there is something else going on. Based on the fact that nobody here seems to know anything about the brand who made that kit I'd go out on a limb and say that it's a kit that you don't want to put on your car. If I were you I'd just heed every body else's advice and go with a good quality gasket kit from a tried and tested manufacturer.

Federal Mogul is the shit you get from Fisher or Napa for American cars.

It's the shit you get from Rock Auto because you bought the cheap brand and are planning on selling the car but don't want it leaking and don't want to spend the coin.

It's name sounds like some governmental miser who made millions in a ponzi scheme and doesn't regret it one bit.

Exactly what I was looking for, unless anyone else with experience (with them) says otherwise?
I will probably just end up buying the cont. belts + timing belts + tensioner. soooo 30 for all the belts?

hypothetical time: if the timing belt has been sitting in a garage for 5 years would it still be safe to use? I know rubber degrades spontaneously over time and the process is faster when stored improperly (like a garbage can stored). How long should the T-belt be sitting before its wise to pass it up ? assuming these belts have production dates stamped on them.

30 for 3 belts is too much
