How can i go about this

Some might know, but my car has a 2.8L block along with the 524td crank and 528e pistons. It has a shaved head also. Now...i will be participating in the AKA rally and i thought id turn my car into a FI e30 instead of a N/A beast. We have a couple of turbo's lying around here and it seems that the TD04 is a good one for the m20. After we are finished with DTM race cars i think im gonna start a project with my car.

i need some help on pple who have gone the FI route on the m20. aside from the turbo and the head ( i have an extra stock head ) what exactly is needed to complete a turbo setup on my motor including the costs.

i looked up "matt's" site ( i have tried to contact him but with no response ) and read his parts list. If im correct the total for turbo parts aside from the turbo and the pistons is around $1,117.

800-900 bux for the whole setup? awesome.

why a t3/t4 hybrid? why not a td04? these are the questions im seeking to answer and also gain some knowledge before i go ahead with this.

      thanks diego

              Caracas? mmm talk spanish?

anyway, my setup costed me 1200 +- , remeber that I own a shopp and was more easily to do it....maybe you should look for more info about turbo si f you don't know how they work exactly, learn about all that is envolved with turbos...

For beging, look for a Turbo that feeds your needs...don't know iwch is your goal...I think would be middle not just daily driver and poor HP and not top end power(racing) so, maybe you should look for a Garret T3/T4 Hybrid...then choose the specs on it...if your wallet is tight or want a budget project look for a used unit in Ebay...my turbo is used but repaired.

Then look for the Blow Off, the IC, see where you would like to install and then buy the IC that suites your needs. Oil lines...and well the pipes , this part will be the tricky part if you attempt to weld by yourself...

If you want to run above 7-8 PSI you will need larger injectors like 19 LB/H Ford Injectors or largers ones if you try more Boost with the help of a Vortech FMU( I moved from the stock ones to a set of 21LB/H and still need a bit more fuel for 9-10 PSI currently runing)

The internals components are fine, you don't need to change nothing except to replace the head belt and would be a great idea If you change the head gasket just with a stock one and probably stronger head bolts.

Again, start to look for the turbo and their parts needed to do this project.

I will help in anything if you need to know... :D

Fisrt what Turbo excatly do you have? a T3 a T4 or T3/T4? what compressors, wheels and A/R do you have on it? It's Internal or External Wastgate?

                      Head? what happened with head?

About the Pipes messures I can't help you much, this because you have to see how it can be routed in your setup, but I can tell you something, take a pipe that messsures the same inside/extrerior diameter as the Trubo out let manifold , I can't remeber exactly how much it does.

Here are some pics of my current Intercooler(soon will be upgrade to a bigger one) and the main pipe.

My Turbo Header! This thing you have to build and weld from the engine, since it will give the clearances.

                      And my Dowpipe

                      Hope Helps in some way!

also you have to make a hole in toil pan for the return of the ooil from the Turbo
