New to E30- Going for VH45 Swap

Hey everyone I am new to the BMW E30 world and when I saw Voshlag's attempt at the VH45 swap I have decided to go for it and see if it can be done.

It is a pleasure to meet you all and I assume i can expect some flaming from people, but my goal is to make 300hp V8 under $4000 including the car as well.

I am making sort of a "How To" Video on Youtube.

    Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/modestreaction

    Progress Price List:

    Clean E30 with Motor - $700
    VH45DE with Harness, ECU - $450
    300zx turbo tranny - $170

    Thanks!

here is a quick video episode 1 we did on the progress. Sorry too lazy to take pic and i figure a video is worth more than a 1000 words.

I just so happen to have a nice shell and a spare VH at my shop. Lets see where this goes.

My brother had an s14 with one in it. It sounded really throaty, but with the relatively small displacement, it couldn't touch my 24v e30.

my buddy's shop specialized in 240s vh swaps and thats why they have taken on the challenge on dropping the motor in my E30.

Update! motor mounts just got fabricated today!!!

This is episode 2 where we made the adapter plate to mate the VH45DE to the 300ZX Turbo Tranny. My buddy luckily had a CNC machine and so everything was cut out with precision. check it out!

little progress from last week. We made alternator bracket and power steering bracket to relocate both parts towards the center and bottom of the engine bay. Looks like we will have to pound in the tunnel a little bit to mount the starter.

Header will need to be fabricated to fit inside the engine bay. Steering rack side is super tight and will be very challenging to make everything fit.
