    Advice on buying an E30

Hi guys, have not been here for a long time, I gave my E30 to my son (a 1987 316) I bought a 732 E23, and later an E32 735i, now my daughter turned 18 and she's getting her own wheels, so I don't need 4 doors anymore, so it's back to the E30, :-D I'm going to sell both 7 series and buy an E30, I was thinking about a 1990 325, but I'd really like some input.

    thanks in advance

Go for it. If you like the late model arches and plastic bumpers just look for one from 89-91.

First off I'd like to congratulate you on being a BMW family :D and since you say you are buying this car for your daughter I would suggest a 1991 318iC its a nice vert with the m42 not too much power rather reliable and girls love convertibles

But before people comes in here barking at you for not using the search feature I'm gonna leave this link to everything you need to know about E30's

OP 89-91 325i/is will be a great car. look for one that is manual, had sport seats. also be thorough on it's maintenance records. other wise there's cars are getting to the point of full rebuild if they have not been perfectly maintained.

now if you aren't wanting something fast. and cheaper is more your thing an 86-87 325es is also a fun car. it's not anything to tack to the track but i love mine for daily commuting.

or if you have 35k burning in your pocket, get an M3, nothing beats the real deal.
        Much wow

Thanks for the fast replies, I am gettign the E30 for myself BTW, and I did search, it's just that I'm interested in what people feel about the car not just a guide.

I would get an M3 id I could, but the E30 M3 is really scarce here, (there are actually three) and none is for sale.

I own one of the five e23 still running, Chile has grown a bit, but it was a pretty small country in the 80's and 90's.

anyway, I'll browse the guide, but feel free to comment or give me ideas.

I second that emotion regarding the total rebuild comment.

Mileage and repair records will let you know what to expect on the initial repairs and monthly bill. My 89IX with 182K has 9K of replacements and 3.5K of upgrades over a year and a half.

            Best,
