One of my good friends has an LCI E90. It's a really nice car. It's fast and it's comfortable. But (as discussed ad nauseam in other threads) it doesn't have any soul. It feels... sterile. Almost clinical in its approach to what it does and how it does it. The E36 he had before it, even though it was disintegrating from the inside out, had soul.
I went to a ride & drive at the local dealer last year to spend some time behind the wheel of an F10, and was completely nonplussed by it. Again, it was a nice car, and was feature-packed, but it didn't stir any of those "I've got to have one of these" feelings.
My work colleague's E46 M3 doesn't either. The last car to give me that feeling (which I haven't owned yet) was an E39 M5. Granted I haven't driven the F10 M5 yet, though it's still not affordable for me - at least right now.
