2 series will replace 1 series. If they're following the slimming trend of their 3-4 series then perhaps it will be more of a real sausage instead of a costco one.

How Does This Community Feel About The New Direction Of BMW ?

BMW has always been about "sporty" sedans for the masses...with a small number of hardcore models peppered in. The total number of 2002 Turbos, E30 M3s, Z3 M Coupes, and 1M Coupes pales in comparison to the number of grocery-getter 3ers, 5ers, and SUVs sold.
BMW is not Lotus or pre-1996 Porsche. The hardcore, track-oriented driver was never the main focus.sigpic

Interior on none of the newer model r durable
It seems that the paint on the trim panels r the worst they could possibly find
Headliners don't stand up either
And faulty radios & amps from the 7, 5, 6, services
R beneath bmw
But than again so is all the problems from the overwhelming oil leaks from the engines too

i have a hard-on for the 235i, x6m, and m6 gran coupe. the i3 and i8 are pretty cool.
BMW is still a great auto manufacturer. a lot of the gripes you guys have are trends that all manufacturers are following due to industry-wide safety, performance, and emissions targets.. in the US and internationally.

Not happy with the last 15 years of the product
Not to mention the problem with the 335 535 twin turbo motor
And the accelerator problem that was all over nightline
Shouldn't have to be put on blast to make a recall
If we fuck up
We fix it
After all its is a bmw
Not bm trouble u

Oh one more things
The new 4 series should have been the new 5 series coupe
Likr how they did with the 6 series
X6, 6series coupe & the 6 series grand coupe
Hence
X5, GT 5 series, 5 series, and then u people could have made the all new 5 series coupe
Daaaaa

+1 for IDGAF. I used to be one of those die hard, "Front wheel drive BMW?! Blasphemy!" "Four door six series, WHAT?!" types. Well it is blasphemy, but I just don't care anymore.
BMW still does a lot of cool stuff in addition to the ridiculousness. They also make what their target audience wants, and that's fine. It just doesn't include me; that's fine, too. It really doesn't matter one way or the other.'84 318i - Lapisblau/Schwarz (in cryosleep)

I personally feel disappointed, and offended as an old school enthusiast. The E30 stole my heart when I saw it as a little boy, and I've been madly in love with her ever since. I feel like they've abandoned tradition, and are slapping their heritage in the face. But hey, that's just me.
I want to get a good understanding of how the majority of this community of old school enthusiasts feel. You see, my good friends father is a high ranking executive in the BMW family, and I plan on approaching him with my opinion, but I want to be able to present the general feeling of this community to him as well.
I really do appreciate what you all have to say, so please, don't hold back. Tell me how you really feel.

Corporate BMW, do you want a new direction?
First, hire me, then

Take your time and do it better than right.

I hate the idea, but BMW has been ignoring the enthusiests for nearly a decade now. I beleive it was the editor of Roundel even said once 'who do you expect to purchase these cars used & out of warranty, they don't hold their value, and are no longer cars that will be considered historic or classics'.

It isn't just us relic freaks who think BMW is going down the shitter either
"Lows:
Clomping ride, ponderous handling, wooden steering."
C&D on the new 5 series
If this is the new, more profitable BMW, I dont' want any part of it
Folks, this is the beginning of the end. I fortold this before (the downfall of BMW's glory days, and the renaisannce of the North American auto industry), but only now it's coming to fruition.
:hitler:
Quickly gather up all the e30 parts you can, before they all become obsolete and we end up only being able to purchase new e30 knock-off parts from ChinaIf it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!
