MOBO: ASRock Z77 Extreme4
Memory: Corsair XMS 1600Mhz 8Gbs
CPU: i5 2.3 stock clock unlocked and overclocked to 4.2
CPU Cooling: Corsair H60 watercooling
PW Supply: Coolmaster Silent Pro Gold 800 watt
Graphics Card: Nvidia ASUS GTX 660ti that I have overclocked a bit but cant remember exact numbers
Sound: Corsair Vengence 1500 headset (pretty much the best headset I have ever owned)
Keyboard: Razer Arctosa
Mouse: Razer Deathadder 3500 DPI
Storage: 3x 60gb Samsung SSDs
OS: Windows 7
Case: whatever was the cheapest mid tower at microcenter
Monitor: ASUS VS248H-P 24" Monitor (got it as an open box item :D)
My total savings with all the coupons was like 450-500 area IIRC.
My start up time from pushing the button to being in game is about 20-30 seconds MAX. (I LOVE SSD hardrives)
So my build would have been around 1.5-1.7k and that was a few months ago, last I checked they just cut ALL the prices on the graphics cards from a few months back by a lot! So should be able to build something better than my comp for about the same price.
Hopefully we can persuade some "hardcore" console players to come to the dark side.
Assetto Corsa: PCMasterRace has a new racing game!

You can think of computer hardware as an addiction just like our cars. I see people selling $2500 wheels to people with $1500 cars every day. Perspective is a bitch.Leave a comment:

Oh, for sure. Don't get me wrong, $800 will get you plenty of PC. But when I think "Beast" I think $1500 minimum. Raid the SATA's and Crossfire 6 monitors kinda level. ;)Leave a comment:

Don't know how you think $800 can't buy a beast PC, If you watch the deals you can get a beast PC for a cheap price, I spent $1000 and got $2000 worth of stuff on my build. This Black Friday if they deals are out I'll probably upgrade gpu even though the current card is more then adequate.

Final release today. Amazing graphic work. All the workarounds that the community had patched together, all part of the options now. 60 fps with everything maxed out. Look ma... no hands.

Well, I probably will buy it tonight. I am running an i5 3750k, 8gb ram with a gigabyte 7870 OC 2gb GPU. I have run all current gen games at max graphics with no hiccups, hopefully this game will be just the same!Leave a comment:

Gary I'm interested to hear your take on how the CSR wheel compares to the G25.Leave a comment:

The Driving Force is fairly decent, had one for years. Its not a smooth as the G25/27 but with force going, you never notice. I now have the Fanatec wheel/pedal. Its a $249 bundle at their website. I picked up my Dell XPS 8700 for $650, added a GeForce GTX 660 for $150. Not a beast, but it gets the job done nicely.Leave a comment:

Just so no one gets their hopes up..
Even though you can get a decent gaming PC for $800, it's far from being a "Beast".
As a side note, I am really disappointed with the choices we are offered today for Wheel/Pedal setups. The G25 was the last great unit. The G27 is a hunk of junk. I am hearing great things from the new Driving Force GT though. Please note, I am only referring to middle range units. Thrustmaster is currently the only high end unit I would consider up-scaling to.Leave a comment:

Technically a PC can't do your taxes or write your papers either. It does offer a platform on which one can install software to assist them accomplish those things. Yes that's pedantic and I understand what you're trying to say.Ill explain the console vs PC argument again. A console cant do your taxes, it cant write your papers, its only for gaming, a PC can do both, so effectively its your console and your work station in one. Would you rather pay $560+$450(basic laptop) or $800 on a beast ass PC you can hook to your TV and go?
It's not the platforms' capabilities other than how we use them to simulate driving/racing games/sims that we're talking about here though. The differences are in the physics models and the vehicle dynamics of the games/sims and in their target audiences.Leave a comment:

They have added or are adding that feature thankfully for you wheel guys. What wheel are you running? I can pick up a G27 for like 120-180$ on craigslist.

Plus the only racing wheel that works for the xbox is the CSR wheel, which is like $600.Leave a comment:
