    $800 for a 325is?

what do you guys think, it needs a new engine, is that about going price for a 325is with a blown engine?

paint is good, silver color, interior is gray leather in good shape. its a 5 speed that has 153k on it. it has a 2 year old clutch and the a/c was replaced 2 years ago. it also needs a fan motor.

I was looking at the M50 swap and found a few m50's in the 600-700 range, is it best to run the trans that the m50 comes with?

This car isn't located in Cali, is it? It sounds a lot like a car that I almost bought...

If it's an early model steel bumpered car, it's not worth 800 if the engine is blown. If it's a plastic bumpered car...it still isn't worth $800.

I have bought, parted and sold enough cars up here to have a general idea of what cars are worth, and even with the rarity of finding a clean shell up here $800 is too much. If it has some aftermarket suspension or other goodies - maybe. But a stock chassis is not worth $800 unless it's running.

For the m50 swap - make sure you do some reading before getting into it. The cost of the engine is only the tip of the iceberg - keep in mind you'll need the 525i oil pan, disptick tube and sump (unless the engine you're getting is out of one), e36 m50 motor mount arms, e36 (or e34, but slightly shorter/harder to retrofit) wiring harness, all the accessories, e28 motor mounts...and the list continues. You'll be looking at well over a grand even if you get the motor for $500. Just keep that in the back of your head if you do indeed decide to go the swap route.

Let us know how things go.

theres a running 87 325is for $700... but it needs a paint job.

i dont see why the 1990 wouldnt be worth $800 you can get an m20 all day long for $500 easy.

so thats $1300 for a 325is...?? doesnt seem bad to me.

                To everyone who is wondering:
The car is a '90 325is. The motor has siezed due to lack of oil.
(I was considdering getting this car a couple months ago, but decided not to. That is why I know the details about the car.)

I just bought an 87' 325is, delphin metallic, tan leather with PERFECT reuphlostered sports, BMW maintained, 2 year old clutch, 236,000 miles, great body although it has a dent in the drivers side rear quarter. 1,200 dollars. Not bad for my third e30, it is just like my first one, but ten times better shape. I missed my early model, i wanted a euro bumper candidate and this was perfect.

                  Get the 87' is.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

i like how the bumpers look on the 1990's so much better though and jordan mentions on his site its really hard to put them on the 87's... what if i get the 90 for $600, is that better?

I was thinking you had a nice find, untill I saw that. I'm not a big fan of quarterpannel damage.

What motor are you going to put in it? If you have a spare motor laying around, I would say do it. Do you still plan on swapping in an m50? If so, you should do some more reading to figure out exactly what that swap entails.

dude. you asked us if it was a good deal. I'm telling you, that even in NE, where rust eats most of our cars, $800 is more than I've EVER SPENT FOR ANY OF MY E30's, and you can be damn sure I've had/have some doozies.

Please trust me on this. I am telling you this so that you can barter with the guy and get the car for cheaper. The car is worth $400-600 TOPS. And that's if the sucker is CLEAN. I've seen 89+ coupes go for $400 around here, and they STILL ran.

Offer the guy $400 cash, and bring that cash with you. Hold it in his face, and he'll be hard pressed not to take it. The final test - when and if he says no, just say, ok, thanks anyways, and walk away. I've got a 5 spot that says he tells you to stop and takes your offer, or he's a douche that thinks his car is hot shit and isn't going to sell it anyways.

                          my grey 4 door 89 325i with a blown motor was $500.
At the time it seemed in decent condition, I guess me beating it for so long has shown how much of a POS this is (had almost no maintenance, but I'm just about done refreshing it)

Am I wrong in assuming that E30's are more expensive on the island than here, and therefore you got a better deal that he is looking at?
