Suggestion : Is this a money pit? Pull out? HELP

I have been keeping an unregistered E30 around.

All in the car has been nearly $6000 for 10 months of having it with me. It still rides on cut springs and half of it is rusted to shit maybe. I have let a garage keep it until I can decide if I want to have the car welded, resprayed, up the boost, and get it on coilovers. (are Gabriel's any good or Ground Control only?)

All in all it could take me to $5000 and as it is right now it's a scary thing to drive in a bad way.

I am only pushing on because owning a quick E30 has been a dream of mine for 3 years.

Could these cars ever be as stable, reliable, and comfortable as a modern car?
Been thinking about selling the car and getting an E90, E39, or just some damn corolla.

If the body is crap, it might be worth ditching tho. How hard are E30's to find in Thailand?

In 20 years (without any unforseen reasoning) e30's will still be kickin it, e90's will be scrap heaps.

Should've spent money wisely..like, getting a better shaped E30 in first place, or spending money on maintenance. Where's the fun when you can't put it on the road?

I realized that the previous owner did a very shoddy job of fixing the rust and it was actually rusted to shit. There was a rust hole deep inside the firewall. It needs to get repainted as well. A 2 door shell around here could cost a grand or two anyways. I need coilovers, new rotors, and a tune as well.
