It was wicked . . . we'll be dragging him and the E30 to all we can find. Original rear bushing/suspension. lol

Now that's the way to raise a kid! Very cool! I am getting the Rallye bug again, and this is just feeding that need...

Gah, rallycross looks ridiculously fun. Only place you can slide around as much as a vintage race car does, but also feel like Stig Blomqvist doing it! Must find a way to try it.

There was one other E30 in the Rally Cross but it was in all wheel drive stock class. My kid loves the E30, it's his DD and he does all the work on it. He has some interesting "upgrades" he will be making. As I said, a proud mom.

Those videos are wicked. Looks like a blast. We hit up a vintage race at Lime Rock and it was a blast.

It's so much fun it's almost criminal. Probably about as fun as a rallycross! :D

Which race at Lime Rock? Labor day weekend? We go every year and bring 4-5 cars. Not one of the events I ever have a chance to drive though :(

Glad you had a good time though! Gotta keep the youngin's interested in old cars so they continue to have caretakers!

It was Labor Day and we will go back. Sorry to hear you didn't have at the track. How come you weren't able to?

My boy will be 19 in a week and he is full throttle on his love of vintage. The best thing I ever did, well one of the best things I ever did, was get him the E30. He is crazy in love with it and all old cars.

I am really happy he is learning his way around an engine and all parts that move; I think it is what will enable him to pursue the love and afford it.

My Dad and I run a vintage race shop. We take care of about 15 cars. I only drive a couple times a year, basically as a test driver in our 1965 Lotus Cortina.

I completely understand how your son feels. When I was 14 or 15 I bought a 1980 Triumph Spitfire and completely rebuilt it over the next few years. Working that much on something really helps you respect it. Luckily for him, an E30 is a lot easier to work on than a Spitfire!

My kid knew your pic was a Lotus. My brother had a Spitfire back in the day but he knew nothing about cars.

YES, working on them creates a deep . . . weird . . . bond with the car. Lets just say my kid is definitely a fanatic, in every aspect. Cars are his drug of choice! No complaints from this Mom;)
