    Computer help needed

    Hey guys--

I have a Gateway laptop with Windows XP Home. It has Windows Media Player on the computer, but whenever I open the program, it immediately closes!

My computer says it is not "compatible" with WIndows XP. Is there anyway I can make the program work? It's frustrating! I can't watch movies.

    thanks guys

Well, one quick and easy fix that should work is just to reinstall media player. ANd if that doesn't work, just reinstall windows. And don't worry, as long as you don't uninstall windows/reformat your HD, all your files and programs will still be there.

hmm, sounds like MS. Their program not working on their OS. Well try updating it from ms's site. Then if that dosent work, defrag the computer, that seems to get a lot of instabitlity problems out. If you clarification aks. :)

      I bombed Korea every night.

My advice would be just installing some other player.

I have heard good things about a player called VLC,
you can download it here for free.

Here is the download page if the other link
        doesn't work.

As far as I know this player is supposed to be able to play virtually anything.

        Good luck! :)

Uninstall it, then download the latest version form MS.
