1989 cirrusblau 4 door automatic (i know i know) with flat paint, and a decent tan interior at 155k miles. The insurance company said the cars I use for sale have to be basically in the exact same year, condition, and mileage as mine. And model (4 door). Color is not a big deal however. So if anyone runs across an e30 that fits there criteria please let me know, so I can get my dues.Comment

We know that, but the insurance company either doesn't know or doesn't care. Another thing you could point out to them OP: the specific year of a late-model E30 is pretty meaningless value-wise unless you're talking about the iS ('89 came with the most options stock, more desirable slightly). Also, there is a negligible difference between 2- and 4-door selling prices, at least from what I've seen.
That said, here are a few vaguely around you:
Not exactly the same, but see above. You should also do a search of the classifieds here, especially cars that sold.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one? Info, photos, videos, and more can be found at www.michaelsvintageracing.com!

It's more to keep people from creating fake adds to inflate their market and to weed out weak comps. Usually it benefits the claimant, but not always.
Again, third party appraisal is your best course of action if pursuing damages through the claim.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

When my 318is got hit the insurance company tried to use a E30 318i and E36 318is models to value the car because they could not find any E30 318is. Their first offer came in at like 2200 and we ended up settling for 3500 after I found some comparable cars to send them. They accepted R3v ads, craigslist, autotrader, ebay, etc. They said as long as the car was publicly listed for sale they would look at the ad.
I think the driver who hit me had State Farm, which is pretty bottom of the barrel for insurance companies from what I hear.
What they offered you was only their first offer, I they have to expect that most people are not going to be happy with the first offer. Keep working with the insurance company until you get something more fair. The 4 door auto 325i is not the most desirable model but any late model E30 in decent shape should be worth at least 2 grand.
Post up some more pics of the car so that we can get a better idea of what its worth.Comment

As far as insurance is concerned, autos are actually worth more money on a typical market. Claims are not geared towards specialty or older cars, but instead the typical 2005 Toyota Camry that makes up a majority of day-to-day claims.1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug

This thread is lame. Dude, you gotta fight for your right to party.
My already-once-salvaged 1983 Peugeot with 400k+ miles got SMASHED to SHIT and after like 10 months of fighting with Ameriprize, I got a little over $2k...
The secret is to never give up. This is the car for reference...btw NO market for these.
It's all a crap shoot. Be stern with the insurance.
Forget about your friend and his family. This experienced has shown you that he's not worth your time.
Times like these weed out fake friends from real friends. Don't be soft.
Move on, find some new friends. Better yet, find a cute girl (or dude if you roll like that) and get it.

Fyi, I bought one like this in 2010, but ODO broke at 132K, and I paid $2700 IIRC..1989 cirrusblau 4 door automatic (i know i know) with flat paint, and a decent tan interior at 155k miles. Best Friend's Mom Totaled My Car
I have State Farm insurance. Tho I absolutely hate the insurance agent I go thru, they were very good to me when my e36 was hit by a semi.
I ended up getting close to $6k for a 210k mile automatic 325is with rust. Plus they paid for the time I missed at work and other expenses.
Wouldn't be so quick to judge. All insurance companies suck to get money out of.Last edited by dannyyisntt; 01-19-2014, 12:04 PM.sigpicComment
