URO Parts: Interior Trim, Door Handle, Hood shock

I am posting this here since in my effort to search the web I came up blank and discussion for URO Parts' more innocuous (ie, less critical) offerings is basically absent.

I just placed an order for three of their parts:

• Hood Shock for $7
• Interior Door Handle Trim Rings x 2 for $2.50 each
• Left side Interior Door Handle Assembly for $10

I figured for $25 bucks shipped, it was worth an effort to try these parts. Door handles on every parts car I have seen are either missing or bashed to shit. Plus they are so freaking old that buying used means you get plastic that is 20 years old, minimum. Still though, they could be shit and I wind up having to get used parts anyway.

Rockauto has them for sale and I love Rockauto. I know that URO parts have caused lots of people problems and I will heed those warnings. I guess we'll see.

Yea, I bought a handle trim for 2 bucks and it didn't fit.

I bought a new oil pan for my M42 from URO. Pretty sure. I bottomed out on gravel, and it cracked the pan producing a steady drip. It was 3 days old. My original pan was smashed to shit before breaking. Seemed to me to be a weaker part.

The last URO part I bought was a rear window gasket and it wasn't even close to the right size.

Well, here are the parts as arrived.


And two pics of the part installed in the door.



The trim rings I haven't taken a picture of yet. But they fit perfectly on the original on my passenger door and fit just fine on the new driver's side handle.

We'll see how long they hold up when I drive the car daily.

The hood shock is perfect too. I don't get the 100% hate on ALL Uro parts. But whatevs.

URO parts are shit, but for simple parts, they should do. I'm running a URO mechanical tensioner, works fine.

Plastic bits like that I would have no problem with, it's other parts I do. I've had two experiences with the brand and both are negative. The first was radiator hoses for my M42. Neither were even close to the right diameter and both had the bend length too long causing both to have kinks in them. The second was an antenna mast. My old one was getting corroded from the sea air down here and was slightly bent, but in perfectly working order otherwise. The URO version doesn't always catch the motor and stays up. Also it's made of the cheapest metal ever. The thing now has a slight bend because of going down the highway.
