Got an offer at a gas station once. Also got out of my car at a light to run past 2 cars and give a note to a 70something year old guy in a minty Mtech II vert. Still haven't heard from him though... -
I've had a few offers from random people. Couple of times at a garage station, once at a light, even once as I got home from work. Guess its only fair as I got her by asking original owner as I was delivering to his house. Gotta say my favorite is when kid asks me what ix means. Always glad to educate yung'uns.Leave a comment:

I've Had A Few Offers To Buy, But People Seem To Get Blown Away When You Give Them A Price On A Solicited Offer To Buy.Leave a comment:

HAH!
Long time ago in Seattle someone left a biz card with a very nice note on my old Alfa. It was from some posh antique shop in Pioneer Square. Of course my ego was pumped a bit, so I dropped in to maybe meet another Alfa guy.
He was squinty eyed and really cold and tried to steal it. I said wow, I wasn't going to sell it, just wanted to say hello. Turned out he was a car broker who was scooping up all the vintage Alfas he could find to ship to Japan and make a killing. That was in the late 80s. I still have it.
I've left a few notes on E30s looking for a decent one and to learn about them before I found teh r3v.Leave a comment:

One night a car full of young guys pulled next to me and got me to lower my window...I thought they were going to say nice car or maybe make an offer on it but instead they asked me "Do you happen to have any Gray Poupon"?Leave a comment:

Never any notes -- but while I was driving with the top down, a guy rolled up next to me at a stop light and said he'd give me what I paid for it.
Turned him down. He said "Fuck you!" and revved the engine of his shitty early 2000s Monte Carlo.
Then I revved, the light turned green, and I left him in my dust.Leave a comment:

Nick... REALLY?Originally posted by Nick's e30I had someone stop me in my ETA and ask if it was for sale. I gave him a number, he way lowballed me saying its not worth that. All I said was "you stopped me to ask what it'd take, I don't have it for sale." It was an S4 owner.
I've had a couple since then, one with my current 5.0 motor. I usually don't even humor it anymore.
I had 7 or 8 people who wanted my Galant VR-4 when I still had that who made good offers, I probably should have just flipped it immediately when I had the chance. Would have been a sweet bit of cash to just make doing nothing.
How many people are going to stop you in your super rusted mismatched e30 (that looks like a teenager owns it) to ask if its for sale?
Whats a low ball for you? $400? because I'm sorry, but thats all that heaping pile of rust is worth. you have a hard time connecting to reality or something, the car isn't worth 5 grand like you put it up for sale so many times and went and blew the motor in-between all that because you never check the oil level on a fuckin eta motor.
You just can't stop lying god damn. 5.0 motor give me a break you have NO SUCH THING in your car right now.
GIVE UP, you would do so much better without lying on every last kilobyte of the internet.

I got one note so I called the guy and he was trying to sell me his turbo setup for upwards of 10k.
I mostly get the "you're full of shit" faces when I tell them its a real M5 and that I bought and maintain it completely on my own.Leave a comment:
