e90 spark plug wells have oil sitting in them.

So I am doing the spark plugs in my 07 328i and cylinders 3,4,5 have puddles of oil sitting in them. The electrodes on the pugs look surprisingly well considering....

I am guessing the valve cover gasket is toast? Anyone have a similar problem or insight? Also, did you have to have the valvetronic rescanned from removing the motor? Damnit this was supposed to be an easy straight forward maint job.I really hope no bolt are broken.

    Valve cover gasket and grommets.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Don't forget the Valvetronic gasket too. (#3,4,and 5 leads me to think the Valvetronic gasket.) I would do the OFSH gasket as well.

Wow what a pain in the arse getting the valve cover off. So got it off but managed to snap the crankcase breather hose in the procces, brittle crapy plastic has no right around a hot engine. Cant belive how hard the old gaskets had become. They litteraly turned from nice flexible rubber to a rock hard plastic. Also managed to arc the + wire on the valvetronic motor with my wrench, praying I didnt fry anything possibly an epic fail. . Will re-install valve cover and valvetronic gasket/motor this aftrenoon. Anything else I should service while im in their? Farbin what is the OFSH? Oil filter seprator housing gasket?

Oil Filter stand gasket. Both valveronics seals (motor and sensor). Clean oil out of the coils. Change the oil and do it every 5k to avoid solenoid sticking in the vanos.

I'd be very concerned about shorting the valvetronic motor/connector.

That happened on my '99 Volvo V70. I think the seal on my oil cap is bad, and leaking out at the back, running down under the plastic coil covers, and filling up the spark plug wells. I had to suck it out of each one with one of those giant syringes.

Ryan I will be in touch depending, will find out tommorow when I get it all buttoned up. Waiting on the crankcase beather hose.

This prob started a while ago, but with all the plastic covers its impossible to tell their was even a leak without tearing into. Sucks as my cpo warranty just ran out. Covers make things look tidy but they sure can hide a lot of crap.
