So the mom said she'll file an accident report and call insurance as well as get another estimate at a place that hopefully wont be over $1000. The reason I want the costs to be under $1000 is because insurance would see it as not as big of an impact and would look at it in a different light. Therefore it wont kill my rates pretty much. (this is from what my dad regurgitated to me after he spoke to a insurance agent earlier today)

On the other hand she said she would consider letting me source the parts to fix the car, such as the headlight and bumper cover, if I had it in written document with details. I'm considering this option because I can write it in the sense that I will fix the headlight and bumper and they can no longer hold me liable for any damages to their property and any problems with their health. Signed by our legal parents or guardians. It will make the problem go away, it's stupidly easy to just take out the light and put in a new one, and take off the bumper cover and put on a new one and walk away with only $100 bucks spent or so.

Honestly, I wouldn't even get insurance involved.

First of all it's in a parking lot so it's not a true accident and it can't really hold up in court.

Don't waste your time and money getting insurance involved. Just go your separate ways and sort the parts yourself.

every state I've lived in requires an accident report after an accident's propert damage is above a certain threshold (usually $500) or someone is hurt. So you need to do that before you get in trouble with the DMV regardless of insurance, etc. concerns.

If you know for certain that there is going to be a difference between a $1,000 dollar repair bill or $1,200 dollars then maybe you can work something out where you fix the light and bumper then do the rest of the repairs through insurance.
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!

I believe here in California the insurance company doesn't notify the DMV if the damage is under $750 worth. As a result: no point on driving record, and no increased insurance premium. I'm not sure about CO though.

Tell her and text her not to contact you again and to go through insurance company if she feels so strongly about it. Also, make it hard for her and do not pay out anything out of pocket.

Her son lied to her about having three people in the car and said he only had one. Lol. Wonder what else he's lying about.

hold up........... assigned parking. Do you mean assigned section for students to park or you have your own parking space? This young generation is getting over. lol Anyway I say your wrong. Due to not paying attention. Being aware of surroundings. Seems like other kid was not paying attention either.
Have to agree here - if someone backed out of a park and hit my front fender & then tried to get out of paying I'd be pissed as at least over here in Australia, the car backing out of the park doesn't have right of way, the person on the road does. Unless the other guy was speeding around the corner and you could prove it, you'd pay up. Sounds like you did your head check & he happened to be right in your blind spot when you backed out (however small the e30 blind spot is from the B / C pillars).

Put in a claim with your insurance & let them fight it out - that's what it's for!

She can't prove anything and you're not at fault.

Tell her to stop harassing you and go on your separate ways. I know it sounds mean but nothing good can come out of trying to do all this through insurance.

Colorado attorneys & legal services specializing in personal injury cases. Hire a CO personal injury lawyer if an accident resulted in serious medical or property damage.

Looks like colorado ditched their no fault system so safe bet is to send it off to insurance and let em do what you pay them for.
