    Need some 740 information

I have always wanted one of these, problem is in my area they are usually horrible rust buckets....or are already in the yard. Then I stumbled across this beauty.........

its a couple hours from me, but I could have it for under $3k.....2001, 88k miles.

. "Motor is seized" is all the owner can say about it. Can anyone give me some idea of what exactly That might be, I don't consider myself a BMW guru by any means, and know very little about this motor. I'm looking for something nice to ride around in, for myself and my wife, and with the possibility of kids in the future a 5 or 7 series seems more practical.

    Thanks guys

Timing chain guides are a common issue in this engine. Seized normally means it was overheated or run without oil til the piston rings melted/jammed themselves against the block, and the engine is pretty much trash. Considering you can get decent 01's for like 5k, 3k is too high IMO.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Maybe in Cali.......a rust free in the Midwest is next to none existent. I understand what seized means but the owner doesn;t sound exactly mechanically inclined so I'd like to know what common problems might explain this.
