    I sold my first e30 because it was kicking my ass on maintenance for $800. It was an 89 delphin 5-speed. I would spend thrice that to have it back.

        I have an E30 IC and an 05 civic. Both need to be cared for and repaired. The civic is a fine daily. 5spd, everything works and 41mpg at its best. That is the best of both worlds. Soon, when I move to warmer climates, I would like to make the e30 the daily. I intend to fix more on the e30 when that time comes. But that easy to say when you have a reliable daily. Its def a hard choice, but if I could I would drive an older more fun car every day.

          Don't sell it. I sold my 91 318is and missed it for years. You know the history of your car and know what it really needs. You have no idea about another car. It may. Oat you twice as much to fix another car a short time after getting it.

            This is true. Thats why it was so important for me to buy back my original IX. Knowing the history is a great piece of mind.

              I say just keep it only because the salvage title, your gunna get 3-500 dollar offers all day long cause of it.

                    I doubt that. Anything in any kind of running condition is worth at least $1000. $300-500 is laughable.

                              Really check what you'll be able to get if you trade or sell your E30 and I promise you they won't be pretty. And don't think for one second that an old Japanese car will require any less maintenance at your price point. Especially since E30's are actually very reliable old cars. All older cars require TLC. I would actually say that an E30 is mechanically more reliable than most old Japanese cars. There's a reason why E30's fair extremely well and are very popular in 24 Hours of LeMons and Chump Car racing; because they sold a ton, parts are cheap, they are rock solid reliable, and don't require much at all to be awesome to drive. And to top it off, if you do decide to keep cleaning it up, it's value will increase more than a run-of-the-mill econobox the longer you hold it.

                              And you never know what you end up doing with it if you keep it. You know what my stupid ass is doing? Selling my 04 STi fun/HPDE car (which I'm the original owner of) to fund my brilliantrot-now-turned-pink DD 190k mile E30 325is into a S54 swapped, repainted fun/HPDE car. And what a reliable DD it has been for me since 2007. Only thing that screwed me once was a bunk crank position sensor that left my car stuck at work. Some people think I'm nuts for getting rid of my STi, but my S54 E30 will be cheaper to maintain, better on gas, and it will actually be worth more in the future. All wins for me.
