    Sooo I'm sitting on the side of the roa right now.

    I just got off work and my e30 completely cut out on me. It started bucking back and forth, back firing, and the tachometer was all over the place. I'm thinking it's the fuel pimp but I am not certain. Weirdly when the motor cut out on me my clock on my obc reset like I pulled the battery and my radio did the same thing, reset. I checked all my fuses since I was in my fuse box yesterday, non of them are blown. It could be my spark plugs as well because they're some crappy brand but they look alright.

    My dad is coming to get me now but I'm not sure what to do with the car. I'm about 5 minutes from home so should I limp it? It seems that when the motor warms up is when it gets problematic.

      Did you check the battery fuse in the trunk?
      The fact that everything reset leads me to believe you lost battery contact somewhere.

        Also check the relays on top of the drivers side strut housing, in the engine bay. There are 3 of them, seen where they get loose/pops up and car dies.

            That sounds like a dead battery and failed alternator.
            The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

              It keeps starting right up and I just got a alternator that was in good condition from a R3v member not too long ago. I drove it home and I kept it under 2000 rpm and it didn't sputter, got to the house and let it idle and it slowly but surely started dipping in the rpm and back firing, the quit. No sign of battery dead all electronics are on and will still turn over.

                        I would check these as well and I've even had a very clogged fuel filter cause the same symptoms before.

                          Your electronics resetting makes me think it's not fuel related. I just battled through fuel pump issues and the electronics never missed a beat. (Both a dying/dead pump and later a blown pump fuse)

                            sounds like the main relay to me? that is assuming you have an m20? thats the white one on the driver's side shock tower.

                              How do they ever get loose for you? They take a jackhammer to get free...those 5 prongs are the worst.
