The m235 isn't supposed to be a full M car. Just a car with that "M package" stuff

Bmw is starting to confuse me. Why do they keep switching around the series numbers?

To make it less confusing in the long run.

They are making even numbers 2 doors (2er, 4er 6er) and odd numbers four doors (3er, 5er, 7er)

They have put "M" badges on cars in the past that are not "m" cars.

Except the M6 Gran Coupe is 4 doors

That one threw me off when I first saw it. Suppose its that "gran touring" part

              Exactly.

And then they come out with the 2-series Active Tourer, which is a 5-door MPV.
And the 6-series Gran Coupe? 4-door.

I like the odd=sedan, even=coupe layout, but then they should stick with it.
Make a GT version (taller basically) of their sedans if they like, and make a Gran Coupe version too (sleeker 4-door), but then don't call the 5-series based Gran Coupe a 6-series.
And for the 1-series based Active Tourer? Don't call it a 2-series.
Oh and if it's a true M car, put the M before the number. I think it would be pretty easy to distinguish between the two M1s in everyday conversation.
Although the BMW MX5 (X5 M) would sound pretty funny.

Basically this is what I'm talking about:

              Suffixes:
GT - Gran Tourer (taller sedan/hatch)
AT - Active Tourer (5-door MPV)
GC - Gran Coupe (4-door "coupe")

              Prefixes:
              X - offroad thingy
              M - awesome division

And just to keep things from making complete sense, they could leave the Z cars out of this system.

Well the can't call it the mx5 since that is already taken by Mazda.

That's why it would probably sound funny at first.
The Mazda is MX-5 tho, so there might not be a legal issue.

                    True, but why risk it?

So it's a 3 series with a hatchback and no bitch seat...
                              so much for odd = 4 door / even = 2
