    Bad clutch, decisions, decisions.

So, my clutch is going out on my eta. Today it started chattering, it's about twice as easy to press, and when I rev in 3rd gear I get lots of revs and no go. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I've got a pretty good oil leak going right now on the motor it takes about a quart every other month.

I'm planning on selling the car in the near future (3-6 months) because I'm pursuing a different e30 project.

    So, what do I do?

Swap in a new stock clutch and be done with it.

Swap in a m52and have some fun before selling it.

Swap in a known good i motor and tranny and be done with it.

Swap in a m10 for giggles.

    So many choices...

And keep it, I have passed a new law in Idaho requiring owners of e30s to keep them until forever, I'm up to three, just park it somewhere. You will be sad if you get rid of it to pursue another, unless this is something I already know about, then yes, reseal and a clutch, you'll need money for the s52 you'll be putting into the next e30 I think you may be getting.

Damn you and your e30 regulations.

That's what I'm thinking. And yes, I have in motion what we have discussed as far as my next e30. I plan on driving this one till that one is in my hot little hands. And I do plan on a s52 swap (maybe a s50 if I can swing it)

Because of this I'm thinking of just a new clutch to get me by. I've been working on things to get her in better cosmetic shape for the sale already.

Yes, if you are going that route, just fix her up and be ready to pass it along to a soon to be converted e30 owner.

I'm sure you may be able to find this part or this part and buy from a bunch of places and save a few bucks, but I'd just hit up Steve (blunt) via email, and let him know all what you need, he will get back to you and ship it out quick.

Not knocking your car, but it's an eta, it does not need a performance clutch, just toss stock everything at it. Do the oil pan and valve cover gasket while you are at it, along with the RMS. Likely you will hit the major oil leaks that way, maybe t-belt and seals if you are all excited, but if not, likely you got main oil leaks.

Sounds like $350-400 in parts and a weekend.

Sounds good. I did the oil pan this summer when I cracked it on a curb and I did the valve cover gasket about a month ago.

I do need to do the T belt here soon, along with the seals. I already have the timing belt kit and water pump though. So that's not a big deal.

I'll shoot Steve an email and get those parts ordered. I'd rather just have it ordered and get the right parts and be done with it.

I had a trip planned to Rexburg at the end of the month to go skiing at Targhee. I hope I can still make that.

You can't get rid of it. One of only 4 e30s in Idaho? Meets would look like a ghost town.

                    What meets

I'm getting a different e30 prior to selling. Something a little more unique then an old eta. Don't you worry.

Oh, right, they all end up together at Farbins when you guys swap cars for the week. Just wait, and it'll be someone else's problem come Sunday. :p;)
