4 door Laguna Grün "totalled" Buy Laguna Grün Vert?

So my baby got hit the other day:(

    RIP Edna:'(

Im heartbroken. Just like most of you, I had big dreams for this car. I had grown to love 4 door e30's. I know she is fixable, but insurance is offering enough, and she needed a bit of attention that I couldn't afford to giver her right any time real soon. So Im taking the check and have been looking hard for a couple days.
    I found this guy.

    LOVE the color... lol
    somewhat low miles
    clean as fuck
seriously so much cleaner than my 4 door..
    h&r's
in my opinion ok(not great) wheels
drove it today, it was tight as a tiger.

Sadly its a 318, Ive had 2 m20 cars now and the m42 felt/sounded pretty sad...
I mean it seems like a health motor, just not the 6cyl touque that I enjoy in the sedan. Also no LSD but that probably doesnt matter with a 4 banger as much.
But i think I can get over those little things for a gorgeous shell that I can (hopefully) swap a better engine into someday.
99% sure Im picking it up this weekend for less than advertised.

Whats rev think? Other than that Im a jackass for hurting an e30..

Pretty clean, but tbh vert are heavier and have quite some more body flex. So verts are mainly just cruiser s so in reality the 318 is not so bad, just dont expect to go anywhere very fast lol. Price is a fair maybe a on the higher end, but verts are very hard to come by in good shape/ presentable shape.

Sorry for you laguna loss (mine is ruined laguna under rustoleum black).
If you like the vert get it. If it where me Id hold out for a coupe or sedan though.

You might consider buying your car back from the Ins. company for a parts car. When the time comes you'll have all you need for an engine swap then part out the rest to recoup your monies. Just an idea!!

The m42 can be a fun engine just not in the vert since you can really tell there's the extra weight. Having driven a 318ic I will say it's nice getting the gas milage and just cruising around but you really need to keep it up in the revs to feel productive.

I say grab it, buy back the old car, and wait to see if you want to swap after a few months of ownership.

The whole "flexible convertible theory": is fucking hooey unless you track it more than you DD it. I drive my vert like a Dad sometimes and I rip it the fuck up sometimes. I've had quite a few 4-door e30s and I don't notice a handling difference at all. Buy it, you'll absolutely love it. I'll never be without a cabby again.

This ^. If your 4 door has a LSD, quick swap. And if you can let it sit for a while. You might find the time later down the road to fix it. But having a parts car will definitely save you in the long run. Mine did. The vert looks nice. I would run it.

I would love to keep the 4 door and swap some parts. But to afford the vert, I have to take the insurance check. I cant get the check and buy it back can I?
And Avery, I saw yours and love it, but cant afford it:(

You should be able to buy it back for whatever they were going to sell it for scrap...

pull the trigger on the vert before the gun jams!
It quite hard nowadays to find a good condition late model vert!. The m43 might not be very aggressive but, you could be different and go the forced induction route if you don't plan on swapping the motor. It has DOHC and a timing chain. Its a more technologically advanced engine then the m20.

Regardless it verts can be fun but, if its going to be your daily driver you may not like it. On the other hand, i feel verts are an aquired taste. If you do purchase it, you wont ever be able not to have a vert in the collection.

                          Good Luck!

No, that's how it works. They are basically buying the totaled car from you (as if it wasn't totaled), then you can buy it back from them, generally at the price they would sell the car in it's current condition (cheap).

Right on, I'll have to see what they want for it.
