Awesome! At least when you're done, you'll have a great sense of satisfaction and know that you have a rust-free e30. -
Well the decision to fix it has been made for now... Tomorrow Im getting more sheet metal tools and cutting hopefully all rusty panels out. Monday I'm getting a 4x8 sheet of 18 gauge steel to patch all the rust hopefully its enough to patch it all.Leave a comment:

Please fix it. I hate seeing shells scrapped due to rust. It is fixable. Currently, I am doing a frame-off on a 1965 Dodge D100. Every panel has at least one rust hole, the bed floor has around 20. You can do it.Leave a comment:

I got him beat by miles on the passenger quarter panel and now on the floors. look at my build thread...Surely its not as bad as this? For inspiration

The passenger side was mostly surface but where the rust was it left the metal badly pitted like someone sprayed it with acid. Rest of the rust is straight through and I can stick my fingers through itLeave a comment:

That looks like a "rust- free" 2002.
Is there any perforation? It's hard to tell from your pics,
but most of that is surface and easily treated.

That would be great let me know what they say and I'll get measurments.I could, but it will be the very last thing done before the car gets sent off for scrap. There are just too many other projects in the works, rebuilding a new Chump, building my track car, restoring the Hartge, that take priority.
Someone is coming tomorrow to cut out the battery tray in the engine bay, and I will ask if they can do the strut tower. In any case you can send me measurements of what you need and I will have them with the car.Leave a comment:

I'm pretty sure I saw a shell in the classifieds posted for $100. It's in SoCal and appears to be mostly rust free - definitely better than what you're working with.Leave a comment:

wait Im confused that thread is yours. You couldnt cut what i need and ship?Perhaps you would like a nice rust free strut tower to replace it with?
Check out http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=316693 ask, and maybe someone will take pity on you, cut what you need and ship. Shipping could be a pain of course, as could slicing a tower when the engine bay is full.
I wonder if you would you be able to braze it back together after grinding off all of the rust, would it be strong enough? Anyone know?
Best of luck on the repairs.
Edit nvm just read the post..

Yes the strut tower rust is what has me the most concerned of all cause I have no clue how the hell Id patch it.That strut tower rust is going to be a BITCH .I got rid of my beloved first E30 because of it.
Read this thread...
Im doing rust repair on mine now, it takes alot of patience with the welder to be able to get it all done. I got my passenger side floor done by myself, but im having a professional welder do my driver side floor.
The car can be saved. Think about it as Maintenance to a car made out of sheet metal. and if you do it right it should last another 20 years no problem.
thanks for that thread he has rust in the same spot on the firewall. I wonder have much cash needs to put in his face to fab me that firewall pieceLast edited by ThatOneEuroE30; 03-14-2014, 07:28 AM.Leave a comment:
