I've got some advice. If you get stuck at a light with a grade use the ebrake. Hold it till you can get the clutch to engage and roll off.

Yea it's quite a bit easier on a bike. Hands are more accustomed to the fine adjustments needed to balance the clutch and gas

Get the car on a slight incline. Get the car going in idle. Press down the clutch and shift in to first gear with the pedal still engaged. Slowly start releasing the clutch pedal until you start to feel the car is about to stall. Muscle memorize the pedal position there. To get the car moving do this again but start applying gas right before the stall point. Just apply more gas while releasing the clutch pedal full and there you have it!

Taught my friend who bought an e46 m3 how to drive his car. Took about 2 minutes.

This is good advice. That's how my dad taught me. He would hold the ebrake for me on a hill so i could concentrate on the clutch and gas without worrying about the car rolling back.

I guess you could just hold it yourself without someone in the passenger seat.

Each car is going to feel different. If you have the basic understanding of how a clutch engages and disengages, then you just have to hop in and feel it out.

This is the way I have taught it, though I prefer a flat starting area if possible. You need to get a feel for when/where the clutch is engaging, and this will teach you to use small changes in pedal pressure. Once you get that feel it's cake.

Anyone with a manual transmission knows that a clutch connects and disconnects the engine and transmission. But did you know that automatics have clutches, too? Read on to discover how a clutch car works!

Understand this and you will know exactly how to drive a manual. Practice makes perfect.

Just out of curiosity how old are you? You could go get a rental but a lot of them require you to be at least 21, some 25. Either that or get an older friend to pick it up for you or something.

I'm 29. There are no manual rental cars anymore.

Let off the clutch slowly, when you feel/hear it start to engage you can apply the gas. As stated about hills, ebrake + previous.

For real? Not even the camaros or mustangs? ... the world we live in today :(

Maybe make a craigslist ad or something, offer $50 for someone to teach you. There's gotta be someone out there with a beat to shit honda that won't give two fucks about you stalling out a few times... or a lot of times, whatever

If you wanna get good fast, don't touch the gas pedal when you're going from a stop. Obviously not possible/easy on a hill but on a flat surface. Best way to learn clutch control without picking up the bad habit of revving it up to get going (your future clutch will thank you)

I called a few rental agencies and they don't have any. Their online listings are also all auto.

It's the same concept as your motorcycle, however instead of your hands doing the clutch work its your foot

100%! My dad taught me without any words. Just different levels of you go son to I'm getting disappointing through body and face language lol. What a motivator.
