    E30 Heated Seat Kits
    Forsale Thread
    http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=317565

This is a project I have been working on to help all you guys out
there keep your bums warm. Only a handful of E30s came fitted
with the heated seat option. Now, twenty some-odd years later,
sourcing a working OEM unit can be quite a hassle. Things get old
and rot out. The heating pads are not meant to last forever and
    switches begin to go.

My goal is to provide a affordable alternative to the OEM Option.
I have put a lot of thought into product to make sure it will last long
and work efficiently. Below is some information regarding what this
    kit will include.
    Basic Information
I had been toying around with the idea of making heated seat retrofit
kits using modern heated seat pads. I have a supplier for the pads already and am
set on a design. The pads used are from a US company that makes
carbon fiber heating pads for car seats and other applications. They
heat up fast and stay at a comfortable level.

These pads can be used in any seat you like but i am open to custom
set ups for optimal heating for different sized seats and possible rear
pads for sedans. I can use different size pads for recaros and other
sport seat types and comfort seats.
    OEM Switch

    Aftermarket Switch

    Features:
-Electronic thermostat (built into each pad) regulates the electricity / temperature
circulating within the carbon fiber seat heating pad. This system regulates the flow of
power and maintains a narrower temperature range whether in a high or low setting.
Example: The high setting will have a constant range between 120°F to 125°F. The low
setting ranges between 110°F to 115°F. These respective temperatures are maintained
    at these respective levels.

    Kits:
    - 2 Seat Kit (with Aftermarket Switches)
    - 2 Seat Kit (with New OEM Switches)
    - 2 Seat Kit (for use with your own OEM Switches)

    Each Kit Includes:
    - (4) Carbon Fiber Heat Pads
    - (1) Custom Wiring Harness
    - (2) Switches
    - (2) Dual temperature control module
    - (1) Installation Instructions

I do not have any kits currently for sale.
However, If you wish to "prepurchase" a set I will provide them
at Discounted Price. The wait time will about 4 weeks
to have them made and shipped out to you. I AM TAKING ORDERS NOW

If you have any questions or concerns please leave some feedback below.

The latter seems like a great, cost efficient alternative; let's do that op!

And while we're at it, we may as well ship our cars so we don't have to bother with wiring the heated buttons for the center console.

Price would be roughly $120 for a pair with aftermarket switches and $230 with New OEM switches or $120 without switches if you choose to provide your own OEM switches. Prices Include shipping. These are to be made with high quality wires and connectors and proper insulation.

I will not be installing these unless it were local.

If I didnt have cloth recaros I'd buy set. You think these would work on e36 seats? My e36 as sport seats and I miss my heated:(
Only asked about instillation cuase I have no clue how to take seat covers off.

So basically I pay you $120 total and you ship me the pads, harness, and a aftermarket switch to make my seats heated?

Sounds pretty cool and a good deal if that's the case. It's good also since the buyer will be installing them, so it allows them to know how to swap it to their new seats if they happen to get different seats.

Yes, that's the point. I will also provide basic instructions on how to install them yourself. I'm also currently tossing around idea to simplify the wiring to get rid of the the thick loom used with the current stock switches in favor of a smaller, simpler harness.

                      A few questions:
-Are the pads for seat bottom and back, or just seat bottom?
-Will the provided switches and wiring allow for selectable heat settings, or is it just an on/off type setup? Is there any difference in the functionality of the aftermarket ones vs the OEM ones.
-What are the dimensions of the pads (ie. how much of the seat panel(s) do they heat up)?

                        - this will include (4) pads. (2) per side. One for bottom and one for the back.

                        - the switches will provide OEM like functionality with a HI and LOW setting. Being that these pads are made of newer carbon fiber heating pads, they will heat up quicker than OEM pads.

                        - I am still working with the supplier on the sizes. However they will cover more surface area of the seat then the Original Equipment.

This makes the deal really appealing. However there is still 1 issue I think most people wall have: Who really uses heated seats haha

I would probably consider this if I had some extra money for interior mods.

I have heated seats in my E46, and I use them every time I get in the car from November to March or so. I pop them on high until the seat isn't freezing cold. They're flipping fantastic.

When it's 5 degrees out, and I get out of work and climb into a cold car, they're a god send.

                              +1

my e30's heated seats crapped out long ago. Switches prolly still work.

on my Focus I have heated seats too. Happily those work fantastic and my GF and I use them contstantly. They are best in that time when you first get in the car and it hasn't been long enough for the engine to heat up the interior.

I also find that when I have a sore back from lifting weights, or doing some other activity that involves using my back, the heated seat works wonderfully!

I seriously would consider selling the car if they stopped working (btw the Focus, not the e30)
