you don't have to have already owned a ferrari to buy a new one. they sell to who ever has the cash.
whats up with the fact that you are bidding to have him broker the car for you?
That is not true. My girlfriends father had a 360 Stradale(4th Ferrari) and was trading it in for an Enzo out our local Ferrari dealer, and he was not elite enough to purchase the car. That same day, he traded his 360 in for a Gallardo. He now won't purchase another Ferrari because of what they said to him. When him and I spoke about it last night(he had an "e-shift" Gallardo, and traded it for a 6-speed Gallardo), he had just recieved the new 6-speed and he said there is a "qualification" process in order to get an Enzo. You can have all of the money in the world, and you can't get an Enzo without qualifying through Ferrari NA. Also, you have to sign a form regarding resale, and what I understood him to say was that Ferrari actually was the financier, and they hold the title and won't turn it over to 2nd parties without them "qualifying" as well. They are being superstrict about this car, and who it goes to. I promise you money wasn't the issue.

1. Your girlfriends dad now has a Lamborghini. Hold onto that girl, and the rock you give her better be bigger than your head.
2. I can understand Ferrrari's ways in giving away their Enzo's. I would be just the same. I wouldn't even want to give my E30 away to someone who wouldn't care for it as much as I do now.
3. Get pictures of the Gallardo. And ask for a ride in it if you haven't already. What other Ferrari's did he have?
I don't really like to talk about it, but I will give you a run down of the Gallardo.
Its Yellow over Black, 6-speed. The only option is color matched brake calipers. I took a ride last evening, but he could only take it to 5000 rpms because it wasn't broken in. Its torque is crazy, and it just sounds beastly even at idle, just like all Lamborghini's. I don't know what else to say. I can get you some pictures today or tomorrow.

I would have forgot the Ferrari for the Lamborghini also. :D
Now I wish I was old enough to drive, and knew someone that owned a Lamborghini or something to ride in ;)

Most Ferrari owners I know call Lamborghinis "the car you buy if you can't get a ferrari", this guy just proved that.
Lambo's have always been a runner-up Ferrari. That new Audi-ghini gallardo looks like it could be fun though.
In my eyes, there are only three car cpmpanies: BMW, Porsche, Ferrari.
Lambo have sick rides, but these three companies have more heart. (Coming from a person who has never riden in a Ferrari or Lambo, and have rarely seen them....it's Indiana, not LA)
But from my philosophy, Lambo is just another "other" car company. It has really expensive cars that go really fast, but without as much..... :? what is the qualty that makes B, P, and F so different....? heritage or race bred cars.....I dunno.
I think it makes perfect sense to have to qualify. The Enzo is a rare and dangerous automobile. Can't let just anyone have it.
No sense giving an M16 to a trigger-happy youngster.
I don't really think Lamborghini is "another" car company. It was started when Enzo Ferarri declared he was making the ulitmate sports car in Modena, Italy, and Ferracci(SP?) Lamborghini, formally a tractor builder or something, said he would make a car better than Mr. Ferarri. When he came out with the Miura, it was a close competition for the 365GTB and whatever else was out at that time. They had a tough time in the late 80's/ealy 90's, but I would consider it anything but top notch...especially now that Audi has taken over the managment. For me, I would buy a Ferarri over a Lamborghini...but I promise the Gallardo is a beast. To me, it feels better than a 6.0VT(haven't ridden in a Murcielago(SP?)), but its all preference. The lines in person are much more beautiful than in pictures.
As to the Enzo situation, I think there is more to it than just who they give it to. Her father has had numerous Ferrari's, four since I have know him, and he said more before that. He is a certified SCCA Club Racing, and Porsche Car Club of America instructor. He feels, whether true or not, that he wouldn't be able to provide the feedback that Ferarri NA wants to see from the owners of Enzo's. He filled out all of the paperwork, and offered the mandatory $20K cash down payment. They still turned him down.
I like Lamborghinis.
Ya Lamborghini were started by Ferricio when his Ferrari broke down, and Ferrari wouldnt fix it, so Lamborghini started his own.
Personally, I would rather have a Lamborghini over a Ferrari.
