Let's not go into this with any unrealistic expectations, but it should prove to be a tad more entertaining for us than whatever else is on the boobtube. Will it be billed as the greatest thing since lederhosen or will it be cast as the ungainly blacksheep?

I was wondering when they were going to start making money. For a while it seemed like they were running a charity.

I could see the 2002 build going one of two ways:

They throw it together with parts on hand and make it period. Or they try and turn it into an American hot rod. I'd be OK with either.

You never know it's depends what the people want. My guess is it's gonna be some what original and I'm willing to bet the body is rotted with rust.

Because i am sick i have patiently been waiting for this all day watching the
Discovery Channel. Repeats of naked and afraid and gas monkey! :???: Before Lords of the car hoards comes on there is a new episode of Gas monkey if anyone watches that! But ye i would also like to know how you are "in it"

One of the producers called up IE from the outset (he owns the Isetta that keeps making cameo's). Did the suspension and supplied all the engine bits (the mechanical bits are surprisingly all brand new). I was there helping put some of the parts on the car and had a camera right there (little unnerving).

Was also at the "reveal", on the far right front pulling the sheet back of the car. Honestly don't know how they'll spin it for the show but the recipient is a total bimmer guy (not sure if is friend is a member here). Yes the show is scripted, yes its unnecessarily dramatic. But honestly, it's just TV for entertainment purposes, if I wanted something factual I'd go watch Top Gear.

how the hell do they script a show like that? last week did they plan for the merc to get impounded in mexico??? Its cool that a couple hot rod guys even took a second look at the bimmer though. It seems like guys like them have no respect for the euros :(

Let's say it's 50/50. As a producer you've got some naturally occurring drama, but then they need to embellish it for the show.
