Reading on engine oils

Anyone have any links to good write-ups on the technicalities of engine oils? i just read this:

and would like to learn more about the actual chemistry behind the development, rating and use of engine oils.

If you were arrested for being a good mechanic, would there be enough evidence to convict you?
