Cheapest insurance for a 21 Year old? (L.A.)

I bought a second car and I'm getting ripped off from my insurance on my e30. I decided to take it off my policy and I'm stuck looking for a cheap insurance company. Best deal i got was from Grundy, but they bitched out last minute and said i was under 25, so they wouldn't insurance me. Anyone else in my shoes get a good deal on insurance?

    Move out of LA?
J/K. When I was 21 and only had my E30, I went to some crappy local cut-rate insurance provider for the required liability. Was paying $26 a month. I think they used Explorer Insurance, or something similar.

Did you return your tags first? In MD the insurance companies report when you cancel your insurance. If the MVA notices you haven't returned your plates they automatically sign you up for the state insurance... it's like $20-30 per day. Not sure if it's the same in Cali, though I'm sure there's a similar system in place.

Try Progressive, I pay $86 per month for my truck(liability only), e30(liability only) and bike (full coverage). I'm 25, though compared to three years ago (same vehicles) I was paying $100 per month, so not much cheaper.

Also, a good idea is to find someone who will sell you a Defensive Driving certificate. I went to one of those of companies and paid $65 for the class which they didn't force me to attend and still got the certificate. If you're in school, you get discount for good grades, most big companies also offer discounts for AAA members. I rather go with a big company because if it anything bad happens they ususlly resolve it much quicker then small "cheap" companies. You get what you pay for. I'm 24, live in NYC, and pay $140 a month for my E30 (liability) with Geico. Progressive wanted $542 for liability a month.

But seriously though, do you have a shit ton of points or something? NYC is definitely in the top ten, but doesn't beat DC in terms of costly car insurance. I know people in DC that aren't paying anywhere near that much for liability on their e30s, that's with progressive too.

No points at all bro, I can't have any my job runs constant license checks. It's just how the five boroughs are. I wouldn't know what DC insurance is like as I don't know anyone there but, I figured LA would be similar. If I add a car it would balance out; I quoted adding my brothers E36 M3 and it came out to the same exact price except the M3 would account for $100 and the E30 for the other $4x.

Wow - I thought insurance was expensive in Australia. I pay $18 a month for liability only for my e30?! Mind you, I'm a long way over 25 :) but I didn't pay more back in the day.

Are there other state charges you also pay?

We also have vehicle registration down here, which covers vehicle usage & compulsory injury insurance which is $65 a month for a 6 cylinder vehicle, so I guess total cost to keep the e30 insured & on the road is $83 pr month.

Jeez... shit's just cheap where I live, I guess.

Here in 'Murica (or Maryland at least) it's about $160 for registration... every two years. $65 a month is armed robbery... damn that sucks.

Well I feel jipped. I pay $150/month with Statefarm on mine for just liability, theft, and acts of god. No accidents or tickets and I'm 21. :/

Grundy was offering me 130 a year for it full coverage, i promised to drive it less than 3000 a year. The only thing is that you have to be over 25.

The next best was esurance at 60 a month
