    Shipping a car...what has R3V tried??

    Hey guys;

    I am most likely moving to across the country to CA soon and I want to ship my e30 there. What companies have you used for shipping and what yielded the best results? I'm not opposed to spending some cash to make sure it gets there in top shape.

    I'm a little concerned about the car being low and bad things happening to my wheels. Thoughts? I can raise the car a bit, but I don't have spare wheels....is it worth finding a 'beater' set of wheels to ship the car on?

    Thanks fellas!

    I vote you that drive it yourself, and try to beat 28 hours and fifty minutes.

      Low car MUST go in enclosed transport. I am in shipping business and I refuse to arrange transport for low cars if customer requests open trailer. Enclosed trailer drivers deal with expensive cars and most of them are low. Therefore their trailers are set up to handle such cars.

      You are looking at around $1600-1800 for VA to CA enclosed

          Get enclosed shipping, and you wont have anything to worry about.

            I will do some more searching for sure, just wanted to catch and recent feedback on the topic.

            MrSlacker, what company do you like to use?

            My dad had his e46 shipped with Fedex but apparently they don't do it anymore.

            I am definitely looking to go enclosed!

              im currently looking as well. I'm shipping from Seattle area to Chicagoland area. Not worried about enclosed vs open, just bought the car and havent started the resto/love mods yet. I listed it on uship and through another online car shipping site, not very picky on the timeline so I think that helps. Average seems to be around 700-850 for open transport and about a week of travel time.

                  I have used monteway a few times for shipping cars across country. They have decent prices (800-1000) and offer open or enclosed shipping. OP, with your car being lowered, I would recommend enclosed shipping. You are probably looking at 3-5 business days lead time.

                    I've never used any transport service, but I know Jay Leno and Adam Carolla have both talked about using intercitylines for auto transport.

                      I used Riteway auto transport to ship my vert from San Diego to Miami, took 6 Days including the weekend. extremely reliable and a quality service. would do it again. If you call them try to get Dave and tell hem Rodrigo sent you and he'll give you a good price.

                            I used Dependable Auto shippers. From the bay area, California to New Jersey. They picked the car up at the guys house and dropped it off at one of their centers in Linden, New Jersey. All in it cost me about $950.
