Custom M-system covers?

So I was thinking today it might be neat if someone made custom covers for e34 m5 wheels. Seems like it would be pretty possible and not too difficult for someone with some resources. I don't have any designs in mind but what do you guys think?

Ya I still love my turbines and plan to get throwing stars next. I was just kind of surprised no one has tried this yet. 3D printable or not strong enough?

Haven't played with any 3D printable stuff, so no clue on that. I have stars for one set of mine that I need to get refinished.

I've thought about this too, it wouldn't be hard to do but it would be a bit pricey. I don't think 3D printing would work for production in this application, at least not with the materials that I've seen first hand. I have throwing stars and want turbines.

Maybe make the ronal bear as a cover for the m systems. I'd be down for that.

It's an interesting idea. You could have multiple different covers and switch them out whenever you felt like it.

The materials that could be 3D printed (and machines that use said materials) would not be much cheaper than making the covers via a more conventional route. It could be done, but I don't think it would be justifiable.

It would be cool if there was a turbofan or compomotive cover

While you can make end products with 3D printers, they are really intended for prototyping only. The parts off of them can be used, but material strength and selection is pretty limited. For something like this, I would think fiberglass would be the way to go. Cheap, lightweight and strong. Expensive part is making molds, but if you did that yourself, you could make a set for a few hundred dollars, less as you got more into it.
