I'd investigate the complications of re-registering a salvage/rebuilt titled car in your state.

And what's with the 928? Fuck the E30s... I'd be driving that thing everywhere.

I'm hoping the welding/cutting will be minimal... I actually wanted to pickup a nice MIG unit (Lincoln SP-175) to do the work necessary for the coilovers and rear-camber adjusters on the track car.... I guess i'll find out when I start tearing into it =(

The tranny in the 928 is messed up (automatic). I pulled the valve body and figured out that it wasn't quite right, so I sent it off to a guy in New York to rebuild, but he's taking forever. After that, I need to replace the rear-main seal and re-tension the timing belt before driving it again. Honestly, the car isn't even mine, but things break on it and the owner lets me have it for a couple months at a time to fix it and have fun with it. I've had the damn thing for like 6 months now, and I really want to get rid of it so I can start working on my track car. I sure will miss 450rwhp though !

I know you really like your car, but damn dude, you need to calm down. At least your girlfriend had a clear head, asking if everybody was okay. Regardless of who's at fault, that's the most important thing after a collision.

Also, don't call 911 to get cops over there to make a report. That's just not the right thing to do. That number is reserved for more serious accidents, ones that may involve serious injuries and fatalities.

Anyway, I wrote earlier that I've been involved in 2 collisions, both times with my rear being hit. Nothing too bad at all. Like a fool, though, neither time did I get the police to make a report. I just called the other driver's insurance company and they did what they had to do to get my car fixed. My insurance company never even found out at the 2 collisions.

Hope everything works out for you.

I'm sorry about the car man, I guess that you're going to have to go though what I'm just trying to finish up... Hopefully it'll be clear sailing for you even though there is only one company fighting for the two of you...
I'm in the process of the whole salvage title thing with my Jetta right now. I got the $$, bought my stock '89 Wolfsburg Jetta GLI 16v back from State Farm for $56, bought an e30, some tools, and had the Jetta fixed and 1/3 of it repainted... and now the only pain is the reregistering!! There were some DMV fees for a new title, that were supposedly included in my settlement; a fair amount of paperwork; I was supposed to give up my old license plates...(so I have a ghetto "4" sticker in my rear window and no plates). I'm held up right now because I need to pass the brake and light inspections which cost anywhere from $100 to $200 (depending on where I go). The brakes are fine and all of the lights work except for my effing third brake light which never worked to begin with. I guess its no big deal, but it means I have to re wire and hook up my ugly old 3rd brake light... I've heard that some insurance companies don't like insuring cars with salvaged titles (probably the smaller ones I guess), but I have Geico, so I should be fine.
          Good luck,
          Gus
